Optical characterization of three red pigments, two organic and one inorganic, was studied in order to provide important and reliable parameters for research and applications. The pigments were C.I. Pigment Red 176, C.I. Pigment Red 57:1, and C.I. Pigment Red 101. All three pigments were used in their transparent form, that is, their radius of gyration was smaller than 250 nm. The particles were suspended in an apolar solvent and absorption, reflection, and scattering of the suspensions were measured by means of a single spectrophotometer and the effective complex refractive index was determined.

Introduction: Lichen planus pigmentosus (LPP) is an uncommon variant of lichen planus, characterized by the insidious onset of dark brown to gray pigmented macules, mainly in sun-exposed areas and flexural folds. It is mainly reported in Indian, Latino, American, and Middle Eastern patients. This paper aims to document the clinicopathological characteristics of LPP.

The study investigates the composition and properties of unpopped and expanded popcorn, analyzing monosaccharides, protein, amylose, polyphenols, physical traits, crystallinity, and in vitro digestion. Unpopped grains had high glucose content (mainly from starch), which decreased by 20 % in expanded popcorn, especially in black and red A samples. Expanded grains showed higher protein levels (up to 15 %), particularly in red B and yellow samples.

We examined how urban environments affect the abundance, proportion, and diversity of plumage color morphs in feral pigeons. Five major plumage color morphs (black, blue, white, red, and mixed) were counted in sixty 25-ha plots in Poznań City (Poland). Generalized additive models were used to study the correlations among abundance, proportion of morphs, and environmental factors.

A thermochromic pigment, derived from reaction of ethylenediamine and rhodamine B known as MA-RB, has been successfully developed. This pigment showcases temperature-controlled visible color-transformation properties in both solid and solution states. The thermochromic pigment MA-RB exhibits a notable color change from light pink to rose red, triggered by thermal excitation.
