Introduction: Endotoxemia is a common issue for patients with biliary obstruction. The lung is the most affected organ by endotoxins. Exercise training can alleviate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced lung inflammation and resveratrol has biological effects similar to exercise.

Ascites syndrome (AS) is a deadly condition in fast-growing chickens, preceded by pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), where the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (ATR1) plays a role. We investigated whether allicin (ALLI), a garlic derivative, could (a) interact with broiler ATR1, (b) affect ascites-related traits [haematocrit content (Hct%), blood oxygen saturation (SaO), and the right-to-total ventricular weight ratio (RV:TV)], (c) modify ATR1 expression in the lung, heart, and liver, alongside ascites mortality and growth performance in Ross 308 broilers raised at high altitude and under cold temperatures promoting PAH/AS. Three groups (n = 70 each) were studied: 0-ALLI (untreated), 1-ALLI (allicin 1 mg/kg body weight/daily at 14-27 days of age by oral-oesophageal route), and 2.

Methomyl (MET), a universally used insecticide, has many adverse effects on various organs in both humans and animals including the liver, kidneys, and heart. Betaine (BET), a natural antioxidant, has a protective role against many toxicants-induced cardiovascular disorders. The present study was designed to elucidate the molecular mechanistic way underlying the mitigating effect of BET against MET-induced cardiopulmonary injury and inflammation in rats.

Department of Critical Care Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China; Key Laboratory of Surgical Critical Care and Life Support, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Ministry of Education, Xi'an, China. Electronic address:

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are significant burdens on global health. Remimazolam (REM), a novel sedative, has shown potential in its anti-inflammatory effects. However, a lack of evidence currently hinders our ability to determine if REM can improve ALI/ARDS.

Intradermal Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is the most widely administered vaccine, but it does not sufficiently protect adults against pulmonary tuberculosis. Recent studies in nonhuman primates show that intravenous BCG administration offers superior protection against (). We used single-cell analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage cells from rhesus macaques vaccinated via different routes and doses of BCG to identify alterations in the immune ecosystem in the airway following vaccination.
