Purpose: The aim of the study was to clarify the effect of the interval between transcatheter hepatic arterial embolization (TAE) with Lipiodol plus gelatin sponge particles and radiofrequency (RF) ablation on the extent of ablation.
Materials And Methods: Eight healthy swine were divided into four groups: RF ablation (ablation only), RF ablation immediately after TAE (immediate ablation), RF ablation 3 days after TAE (3-day ablation), and RF ablation 6 days after TAE (6-day ablation). Five ablated lesions were created in each swine (10 per group). A 2-cm expandable LeVeen needle electrode was used for RF ablation. Ablated lesions are composed of an outer reddish zone and an inner whitish zone.
Results: The average longest length of the major, intermediate, and minor axes and the volume in the immediate ablation, 3-day ablation, and 6-day ablation groups were significant longer and greater (1.52 and 1.52, 1.46 and 1.50, and 1.37 and 1.35 times greater in the red zone and the whitish area, respectively) than those in the ablation-only group (P < 0.05/3). Accumulation of Lipiodol was still noted in the hepatic sinusoids in the 3-day and 6-day ablation groups.
Conclusion: RF ablation delayed to 6 days following TAE produced larger ablation volumes than did RF ablation alone.

Background: The efficacy of microwave ablation (MWA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with decompensated cirrhosis remains unclear.
Methods: A total of 315 patients with decompensated cirrhosis and HCC who underwent MWA or RFA were recruited. Recurrence beyond the Milan criteria (RBM), local tumor progression (LTP), overall survival (OS), and complications were evaluated and compared.

Marine oil spills lead to intertidal sediment pollution, causing benthic bioaccumulation and toxicity. However, relatively few studies have been conducted on the effects of crude oil sediment pollution on benthos. In this study, Sinonovacula constricta was used as the research object in a sediment environment to study the accumulation and elimination effects of S.

Objective: The most common medically resistant epilepsy (MRE) involves the temporal lobe (TLE), and children designated as temporal plus epilepsy (TLE+) have a five-times increased risk of postoperative surgical failure. This retrospective, blinded, cross-sectional study aimed to correlate visual and computational analyses of magnetoencephalography (MEG) virtual sensor waveforms with surgical outcome and epilepsy classification (TLE and TLE+).
Methods: Patients with MRE who underwent MEG and iEEG monitoring and had at least 1 year of postsurgical follow-up were included in this retrospective analysis.

The management of hypoglycaemia is pivotal in the care of patients with insulinoma. Blood glucose monitoring and regulation needs careful attention pre- and peri-operatively for patients undergoing surgical resection and as part of the long-term management for patients with inoperable or metastatic disease. Hypoglycaemia symptoms are frequently pervasive and disabling, with many patients showing impaired hypoglycaemia awareness that can lead to life-threatening severe hypoglycaemia.

Endoscopic antireflux therapy is widely used in clinical practice. Peroral endoscopic cardial constriction (PECC), antireflux mucosal intervention (ARMI), and radiofrequency ablation (RF) possess analogous antireflux mechanisms. This comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate and compare the safety and effectiveness of antireflux therapy during endoscopic cardia peripheral tissue scar formation (ECSF) procedures.
