This study compared the performance of 30 poor readers in the third grade with those of 30 average readers of the same age and 30 younger readers matched with the same reading level on phonological, visuo-perceptual, orthographic, and naming speed tasks. Individual data revealed heterogeneous profiles for the poor readers: six (20%) exhibited visual deficit; two (6.7%) had a single phonological deficit; and six (20%) had a double phonological and visual deficit. A naming speed deficit appeared, not as a single type, but in association with a phonological deficit (23.3%), a visual deficit (3.3%), or both (10%). These results suggest that Koreans' most significant reading problems lie in phonological awareness and in visual and naming speed processing. In particular, phonological and visual deficits are major independent risk factors in Korean reading impairments.

Older adults in the third-age group (60-79 years) maintain reading comprehension skills similar to those of younger adults, but little is known about individuals in the fourth age (80+ years). This study investigates differences in reading comprehension in a between-group design. We evaluated a sample of 150 older adults, comprising 86 third-age and 64 fourth-age participants.

Aims: Chemoresistance results in poor outcomes of patients with gastric cancer (GC). This study aims to identify oxaliplatin resistance-related cell subpopulations in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and decipher the involved molecular mechanisms.
Methods: Through single-cell RNA sequencing, a unique ONECUT2TFPI GC cell subset was identified in the oxaliplatin-resistant TME.
Background: Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is a distinct subtype of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) and accounts for 2% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Its typical characteristics include an aggressive course, progressive lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, systemic symptoms, anemia, hypergammaglobulinemia, and generally poor prognosis.
Methods: We describe a rare case in which the left inguinal lymph node was completely excised and biopsied one year ago.

Radiotherapy is one of the main treatment modalities for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Ferroptosis has been shown to promote the radiosensitivity of HCC cells, but it remains unclear whether epigenetic regulations function in this process. In this study, we found that the overexpression of METTL3 was associated with poor prognosis.

Purpose: To assess the incidence of pelvic insufficiency fractures (PIFs) after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC), their time of onset and risk factors. We also analysed the inter-observer agreement between gynaecologic radiologists (GYN readers) and radiologists expert in musculoskeletal imaging (MSK reader) in detecting PIFs in our tertiary care centre.
Methods: Patients with confirmed LACC who underwent concurrent chemoradiation (CCRT) at our institution from June 2019 to November 2022 were retrospectively included.
