This study aimed to examine the prognostic value of lipid parameters for incident hypertension in elderly living in a community. The study included 306 (81% from total) persons aged > 60 years who were free of hypertension and of cardiovascular diseases at the baseline survey of the Bambuí Cohort Study of Aging. The cumulative incidence of hypertension over three years was 37.3%. The relative risk (RR) of incident hypertension decreased 0.92 for each unit of HDL-cholesterol (95%CI: 0.86-0.99) independent of several potential confounding factors. Individuals with HDL-cholesterol in the top tercile (> 55 mg/dL) had a risk of hypertension halve that those in the bottom tercile (RR = 0.54; 95%CI: 0.33-0.90). Other lipid parameters had no significant effect on the outcome. High HDL-cholesterol showed an independent protective effect on subsequent development of hypertension in the elderly.

This study presents a web application for predicting cardiovascular disease (CVD) and hypertension (HTN) among mine workers using machine learning (ML) techniques. The dataset, collected from 699 participants at the Gol-Gohar mine in Iran between 2016 and 2020, includes demographic, occupational, lifestyle, and medical information. After preprocessing and feature engineering, the Random Forest algorithm was identified as the best-performing model, achieving 99% accuracy for HTN prediction and 97% for CVD, outperforming other algorithms such as Logistic Regression and Support Vector Machines.

Clinical Rationale For Study: We have reported that intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) of unknown cause at a young age is associated with lower prothrombin and factor VII and higher antithrombin activity, along with the formation of looser fibrin networks displaying enhanced lysability. Patients with mild-to-moderate bleeding of unknown cause have elevated levels of free plasma tissue factor pathway inhibitor alpha (fTFPIα), inhibiting the tissue factor-factor VII complex and prothrombinase.

Aim Of Study: We hypothesised that patients with an intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) of unknown cause may also exhibit higher fTFPIα.

Association of geriatric nutritional risk index with total testosterone in elderly adults in the US: evidence from NHANES 2011-2016.

Background And Objectives: There is growing evidence that deficiencies in specific nutrients can impact testosterone levels in older men. However, research examining the predictive value of overall nutritional status on testosterone levels remains limited. The Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) is an effective tool for assessing the nutritional status of the elderly.

Seasonal variations in the environment induce observable changes in the human physiological system and manifest as various clinical symptoms in a specific human population. Our earlier studies predicted four global severe seasonal sensitive comorbid lifestyle diseases (SCLDs), namely, asthma, obesity, hypertension, and fibrosis. Our studies further indicated that the SCLD category of the human population may be maladapted or unacclimatized to seasonal changes.
