A technique for improving the sensitivity of high mass molecular analysis is described. Three carbon species, fullerenes, single walled carbon nanotubes, and highly ordered pyrolytic graphite are introduced as matrices for the secondary ion mass spectrometry analysis of cyclodextrin (C(42)H(70)O(35), 1134 u). The fullerene and nanotubes are deposited as single deposition, and 10, 20, or 30 deposition films and cyclodextrin is deposited on top. The cyclodextrin parent-like ions and two fragments were analyzed. A 30 deposition fullerene film enhanced the intensity of cationized cyclodextrin with Na by a factor of 37. While the C(6)H(11)O(5) fragment, corresponding to one glucopyranose unit, increased by a factor of 16. Although fragmentation on fullerene is not suppressed, the intensity is twice as low as the parent-like ion. Deprotonated cyclodextrin increases by 100× and its C(8)H(7)O fragment by 10×. While the fullerene matrix enhances secondary ion emission, the nanotubes matrix film generates a basically constant yield. Graphite gives rise to lower intensity peaks than either fullerene or nanotubes. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy provide images of the fullerene and nanotubes deposition films revealing flat and web structured surfaces, respectively. A "colliding ball" model is presented to provide a plausible physical mechanism of parent-like ion enhancement using the fullerene matrix.

Lignin is a natural phenolic polymer characterized with renewable, sustainable and biocompatible, but yet remain underutilized. In the post-pandemic era, people are conventionally reusing mask but without any disinfections to prevent infection of virus in public places, which could lead to accumulation of bacteria and secondary infections. The development of antibacterial mask from lignin would simultaneously address the hygiene issues of used mask due to microbe accumulation and provide novel approach for lignin valorization.

Parathyroids are the key regulators of calcium-phosphorus metabolism. By means of parathyroid hormone they respond to any changes in the serum level of calcium and phosphorus ions and determine the integrity of skeleton, affecting almost all systems and cells where calcium and phosphorus are involved in metabolism and/or signaling.Disorders of parathyroid function are associated with significant complications accompanying secondary hyperparathyroidism.

Plasma membrane (PM) nanodomains have emerged as pivotal elements in the regulation of plant cellular functions and signal transduction. These nanoscale membrane regions, enriched in specific lipids and proteins, behave as regulatory/signaling hubs spatially and temporally coordinating critical cellular functions. In this review, we first examine the mechanisms underlying the formation and maintenance of PM nanodomains in plant cells, highlighting the roles of PM lipid composition, protein oligomerization and interactions with cytoskeletal and cell wall components.

In 2018, the State Council issued the Three-year Action Plan for Winning the Blue Sky Defense War (Blue Sky Defense War). To study the characteristics and sources of PM pollution in the early stage (first stage), middle stage (second stage), and late stage (third stage) of the Blue Sky Defense War in Handan City in autumn and winter, PM samples were collected in the autumn and winter from 2016 to 2021. Based on the concentration data of eight water-soluble ions, EC, and OC the source analysis was performed using the positive definite matrix factorization model, backward trajectory, and potential source contribution factor (PSCF) analysis.
