Sixteen neurons, including vestibular-only (VO), eye-head velocity (EHV), and position-vestibular-pause (PVP) neurons sensitive to head tilt were recorded in the rostromedial and in superior vestibular nuclei. Projection of the otolith polarization vector to the horizontal plane (response vector orientation [RVO]) was determined before and after prolonged head orientation in side-down position. The RVO of VO neurons shifted toward alignment with the axis of gravity when the head was in the position of adaptation. PVP neurons had similar changes in RVO. There were also changes in RVO in some EHV neurons, but generally in directions not related to gravity. Modeling studies have suggested that the tendency to align RVOs with gravity leads to tuning of gravity-dependent angular vestibular ocular reflex (aVOR) gain changes to the position of adaptation. Thus, coding of orientation in PVP neurons would contribute significantly to the gravity-dependent adaptation of the aVOR.

Nanoconjugates are promising for therapeutic drug delivery and targeted applications due to the numerous opportunities to functionalize their surface. The present study reports the synthesis of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)-entrapped polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanoconjugates, precisely 5-FU-PVP and 5-FU-PVP-Au, and the evaluation of protein aggregation inhibition efficiency. The 5-FU-loaded polymer nanoconjugates were functionalized with gold nanoparticles and analyzed using characterization techniques like dynamic light scattering, UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and zeta potential analysis.

Approximately one in five individuals experience alveolar osteitis (AO) following wisdom tooth extraction. AO is characterised by loss of the blood clot from the tooth extraction socket leading to infection and pain, resulting in repeated hospital visits that impose a substantial burden on healthcare systems. Current treatments are sub-optimal; to address this we developed a novel drug-loaded mucoadhesive patch composed of dual electrospun polyvinyl pyrrolidone/Eudragit RS100 (PVP/RS100) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) fibres protected by a poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) backing layer.

Objective: To observe the effects of acupuncture at "antihypertensive acupoint prescription" on endothelial active factors and related autonomic neurotransmitters in spontaneous hypertension rats, and explore the vascular regulation and central regulation mechanisms of acupuncture for anti-hypertension.
Methods: Thirty SPF grade male spontaneous hypertension rats were randomly divided into a model group (15 rats) and an acupuncture group (15 rats). Besides, 15 Wistar Kyoto rats were collected as a blank control group (normal group).
