The role of endogenous porphyrins in the effects of laser radiation of the red region (632.8 nm) on free radical processes in the blood of rats under endotoxic shock induced by the administration of lipopolysaccharide B (25 mg/kg) has been studied. The measurements of the functional activity of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (the method of luminol-dependent chemiluminescence), the superoxide dismutase activity of blood plasma (using nitro blue tetrazolium), and the degree of lipid oxidation of erythrocyte membranes (the method of fluorescence of cis-parinaric acid) have been carried out. It has been found that low-intensity laser radiation strongly affects all processes examined irrespective of the administration of lipopolysaccharide B. The effect of radiation was most pronounced in animals injected with the polysaccharide, the changes being dependent on the concentration of endogenous porphyrins in samples.

The endogenous reduction of nitrite to nitrosyl is drawing increasing attention as a protective mechanism against hypoxic injury in mammalian physiology and as an alternative source of NO, which is involved in a wide variety of biological activities. Thus, chemical mechanisms for this transformation, which are mediated by metallo proteins, are of considerable interest. The study described here examines the reactions of the biomimetic models Co(TTP)(NO) (TTP = meso-tetratolylporphyrinato dianion) and Mn(TPP)(ONO) (TPP = meso-tetraphenyl-porphyrinato dianion) in sublimated solid films with hydrogen sulfide (HS) and with ethanethiol (EtSH) at various temperatures from 77 K to room temperature using in situ infrared and optical spectroscopy.

Ferroptosis and sonodynamic therapy (SDT) are both promising therapeutic modalities, but their clinical application remains challenging due to the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and limited supply of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Developing an agent with oxygen-enhanced SDT and increased ferroptosis sensitivity is crucial for advancing tumor therapy. In this study, catalase (Cat) and Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) highly expressed 4T1 cells were constructed lentivirus transfection.

Background: Sepsis is a common disease associated with neonatal and infant mortality, and for diagnosis, blood culture is currently the gold standard method, but it has a low positivity rate and requires more than 2 days to develop. Meanwhile, unfortunately, the specific biomarkers for the early and timely diagnosis of sepsis in infants and for the determination of the severity of this disease are lacking in clinical practice.
Methods: Samples from 18 sepsis infants with comorbidities, 25 sepsis infants without comorbidities, and 25 infants with noninfectious diseases were evaluated using a serum metabolomics approach based on liquid chromatography‒mass spectrometry (LC‒MS) technology.

In this study, we demonstrated the mechanism of a glioblastoma (GBM)-targeted sonodynamic therapy (SDT) strategy employing platelets loaded with a sonosensitizer based on functionalized boron nitride nanoparticles carrying chlorin e6 (BNPD-Ce6). In the in vitro study, we first found that the BNPD-Ce6-mediated sonodynamic action (SDA) induced remarkable viability loss, DNA damage, and cell death in the GBM cells (GBCs) but not macrophages. Surprisingly, the SDA-exposed GBCs displayed a ferroptotic phenotype while the SDA-exposed macrophages underwent immuno-stimulatory autophagy and potently potentiated the SDA's toxicity to the GBCs.
