The quasi-static aberrations of optical telescopes are often determined using light from a star as the reference wavefront. We calculate the exposure time necessary to determine the amplitude of the phase aberrations for a given telescope to a given accuracy in the presence of atmospheric seeing. We implement a computational simulation of the atmosphere and present the root mean square of the generated wavefront Zernike amplitudes for a given exposure time. We find the exposure time τ required to reach a desired precision is strongly dependent on telescope diameter (τ∝D(8/3)) and can be many tens of minutes in extreme cases. We present the results so τ can be calculated for a range of telescopes and atmospheric parameters.

Objective: To explore the efficacy and safety of the direct inferior endplate approach in percutaneous endoscopic interlaminar discectomy (PEID) for the treatment of L5-S1 disc herniation.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 116 patients with L5-S1 disc herniation treated with PEID; 74 patients underwent surgery via the direct inferior endplate approach (group A), and 42 patients underwent surgery via the indirect approach (group B). The number of intraoperative fluoroscopy exposures, establishment channel time, operation time, postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were compared between the 2 groups.

This study aims to evaluate the effects of the home bleaching method on the surface microhardness and surface roughness of both polished and unpolished CAD-CAM resin composite materials. A polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN) block, Enamic (VE), along with four resin composite blocks (RCB) (Grandio [GN], Lava™ Ultimate [LV], BRILLIANT Crios [B], and Cerasmart [CS]), were prepared to dimensions of 14 mm × 12 mm × 2 mm and were categorized into unpolished and polished groups (n = 4). Objectives: Characterise US residents' exposure to restrictions on sales of flavoured electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS), cigars and menthol cigarettes across states and time, and assess correlations between these policies.
Methods: From 2022 to 2024, we compiled flavour policy locations from advocacy groups and online searches, located corresponding legal texts and reviewed these to identify policy details, including effective dates. Using census data, we calculated the proportion of state residents covered by each policy quarterly from 2009 to 2024 and estimated correlations between them and cigarette taxes.
