New cyano-bridged coordination polymers [Nd(phen)(2)(DMF)(2)(H(2)O)Mo(CN)(8)]·2H(2)O (1) and [Nd(phen)(DMF)(5)M(CN)(8)]·xH(2)O [M = Mo (2), W (3); phen = 1,10-phenanthroline] have one-dimensional structures with variable number of phenanthroline ligands. Compounds exhibit photoluminescence in the near-infrared region and ferromagnetic Nd(3+)-M(5+) interactions.

Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) have been identified as a promising candidate for biomimetic peroxidase (POD)-like activity, specifically due to the metal centres (Fe/Fe) of Prussian blue (PB), which have the potential to function as catalytically active centres. The decoration of PBNPs with desired functional polymers (such as amino- or carboxylate-based) primarily facilitates the subsequent linkage of biomolecules to the nanoparticles for their use in biosensor applications. Thus, the elucidation of the catalytic POD mimicry of these systems is of significant scientific interest but has not been investigated in depth yet.

Ir-Ni alloys supported on SiO have been reported to show high catalytic activity for styrene hydrogenation; however, precise control of compositions and sizes of the Ir-Ni alloys is difficult when conventional metal salts are used as precursors. Furthermore, the concomitant formation of unalloyed Ni nanoparticles disturbs quantitative discussion about Ir-Ni alloy compositions. We report herein a preparation method of Ir-Ni alloys with precisely controlled compositions on SiO using Ni(NO) and an Ir complex possessing CN ligands, [Ir(CN)] or [Ir(ppy)(CN)] (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine), as precursors.

A cyano-bridged coordination polymer, K{Co [Fe(CN)]} {(K)Co-Fe}, reported as a highly active heterogeneous catalyst for water oxidation was solubilised by a conventional counter-cation exchange of K with MeN ions to provide the homogeneous catalyst of (MeN){Co [Fe(CN)]} {(MeN)Co-Fe}. (MeN)Co-Fe exhibited enhanced catalytic activity for photocatalytic water oxidation using [Ru(2,2'-bipyridine)] and SO as a photosensitiser and a sacrificial electron acceptor, respectively, in terms of the initial reaction rate (1.26 μmol min), which is about twice that of (K)Co-Fe (0.

The Hofmann-type complex and Soma-Iwamoto-type complex are cyano-bridged coordination polymers and both have been widely researched. Now we have synthesized a novel Soma-Iwamoto-type complex, namely Fe(quinazoline)[Au(CN)]. This complex shows the Soma-Iwamoto-type bilayer with Au-Au interactions and a SCO phenomenon with a gradual change of magnetic susceptibility.

Three new cyano-bridged Fe-Mo complexes assembled from the [Mo(CN)] unit, Fe ions, and three pentadentate NO ligands, namely {[FeH(dapab)][Mo(CN)]}·2HO·3.5MeCN (), [Fe(Hdapb)(HO)][Fe(Hdapb)(HO)][Mo(CN)]·4HO·3MeCN (), and [Fe(Hdapba)(HO)][Mo(CN)]·6HO () (Hdapab = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(2-aminobenzoylhydrazone), Hdapb = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(benzoylhydrazone), Hdapba = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(4-aminobenzoylhydrazone)), have been synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal structure analyses suggest that complex contains a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure where two Fe ions are bridged by the in situ generated [Mo(CN)] unit through two -cyanide groups into trinuclear FeMo clusters that are further linked by the amino of the ligand into an infinite chain.
