A novel and efficient absorption line recovery technique is presented. A micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) mirror driven by an electrothermal actuator is used to generate laser intensity modulation through the mirror reflection. Tunable diode laser spectroscopy (TDLS) and photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) are used to recover the target absorption line profile which is compared with the theoretical Voigt profile. The target gas is 0.01% acetylene (C2H2) in a nitrogen host gas. The laser diode wavelength is swept across the P17 absorption line of acetylene at 1535.4 nm by a current ramp, and an erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) is used to enhance the optical intensity and increase the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A SNR of about 35 is obtained with 100 mW laser power from the EDFA. Good agreement is achieved between the experimental results and the theoretical simulation for the P17 absorption line profile.

Glucose transporters are essential carrier proteins that function on the phospholipid bilayer to facilitate glucose diffusion across cell membranes. The transporters play many physiological and pathological roles in addition to absorption and metabolism of fructose in food and the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases. These carrier proteins play an important role in diseases of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, and urinary system.

Interaction of a novel dihydroxy dibenzoazacrown (HDTC) with various surfactants of different charges, for example, anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS), cationic (dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide, DTAB), cationic gemini (butanediyl-1,4-bis(dimethylcetylammonium bromide), 16-4-16), ionic liquid (1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, CMImCl), and nonionic (polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, Tween-60), has been investigated at a widespread range of surfactant concentrations (including premicellar, micellar, and postmicellar regime) in 15% (v/v) EtOH medium at room temperature. Several experimental techniques, viz., tensiometry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and steady-state fluorimetry, are implemented to explicate these interactions.

In this article, the propagation of high-frequency (HF) plane electromagnetic waves through the lower ionosphere is numerically investigated using the real geometry of the Earth's magnetic field in the northern hemisphere. For this purpose, the profiles of electron density and the collision frequency in the layers of the lower ionosphere (D- and E-region) are considered using the reported experimental data for day and night. The reflection, transmission, and absorption coefficients of HF radio waves in the frequency range of 3 to 30 MHz are calculated in the ionosphere plasma.
