: Human β-defensin 2 (HBD2) is a protein that plays an important role in activating the immune system by modulating spinal pathways and the inflammatory response. According to previous research, HBD2 was proven to be important in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) (their values were significantly elevated in CSU patients, with a significant correlation between HBD2 levels and the percentage of peripheral basophils, suggesting that elevated HBD2 levels may be a potential marker of basophil and mast cell activation), which led us to additional research on the HBD2 molecule in isolated chronic angioedema. The aim of this research is to examine HBD2 values in the saliva and serum of patients with isolated angioedema, as a potential biomarker of the disease.

: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is characterized by unpredictable skin and mucosal angioedema attacks. We aimed to find the frequency of sexual-activity-triggered attacks (STAs) and understand how the sexual life of HAE with C1-inhibitor deficiency (HAE-C1INH) patients is affected. : Adult HAE-C1INH patients were included in this cross-sectional study, which started in March 2020.

Background: Preclinical studies indicate that the systemic application of C1-inhibitor, clinically used to treat hereditary angioedema, reduces secondary brain injury after ischemic stroke. This study assessed the effect of C1-inhibitor on secondary brain injury after hemorrhagic stroke.
Methods: We used an established striatal whole-blood injection mouse model to mimic intracerebral hemorrhage-related secondary brain injury.

Objective: To report a case of drug-induced isolated angioedema secondary to the use of Entresto (Valsartan/Sacubitril).
Case Summary: A 75-year-old White man presented with swelling of the uvula with a normal tongue shape and gradual onset of speech difficulty, shortness of breath, and difficulty swallowing after taking his chronic medication Entresto (sacubitril/valsartan). The main possibility considered was uvular angioedema, other potential causes were not identified.
