A new perspective on the Dunnett procedure: filling the gap between NOEC/LOEC and ECx concepts.

The no-observed-effect concentration (NOEC) is known to be based on a wrong usage of hypothesis tests, and the use of confidence intervals is preferred. The purpose of the present study is to provide an easy and proper way to interpret ecotoxicological tests based on simultaneous confidence intervals associated with the commonly used Dunnett procedure, and to show how these intervals may allow one to infer ECx values (effective concentrations).

Objective: The aim was to investigate the patellar ligament strain with varying degrees of tibial plateau angles (TPAs) after tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) in a cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL)-deficient stifle during the stance phase.

Methods: 12 pelvic cadaver limbs were secured to a custom-built jig to mimic a loadbearing stance after which an axial load of 120 N was applied. Patellar ligament strain, change in strain, and percent change in strain were calculated on pre-TPLO (intact and transected CrCL) and post-TPLO tibial TPAs of -5°, 0°, 5°, 10°, and 15°.

Objectives: This in vitro study aimed to investigate the toothbrushing wear on both enamel and dentin surfaces of reference and commercially available dentifrices.

Methods: Bovine enamel and dentin blocks were initially polished and embedded within a resin composite in square shapes (10×8×6 mm3). Background: Atypical chemokine receptors (ACKRs) play an important role in regulating the availability of chemokines and are responsible for the formation of chemokine gradients required for the directed migration of immune cells in health and disease. ACKR4 shapes gradients of the chemokines CCL19 and CCL21, which are essential for guiding leukocyte homing to lymphoid organs where they initiate an adaptive immune response against invading pathogens. How ACKRs internalize and scavenge chemokines on the molecular level remains poorly understood.
