We isolated Mesoflavibacter zeaxanthinifaciens S86 as xylanase-producing bacteria from seawater sampled in Micronesia. Analysis of the M. zeaxanthinifaciens genome revealed that it contains a single circular chromosome of 3,704,661 bp with 3,249 putative open reading frames.

Quorum sensing (QS) is a conserved cell-cell communication mechanism widely distributed in bacteria, and is oftentimes tightly correlated with pathogen virulence. Quorum quenching enzymes, which interfere with QS through degrading the QS signaling molecules, could attenuate virulence instead of killing the pathogens, and thus are less likely to induce drug resistance. Many Gram-negative bacteria produce -acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) for interspecies communication.

Chagas disease is a Neglected Tropical Disease with limited and ineffective therapy. In a search for new anti-trypanosomal compounds, we investigated the potential of the metabolites from the bacteria living in the corals and sediments of the southeastern Brazilian coast. Three corals, , , and sediments yielded 11 bacterial strains that were fully identified by MALDI-ToF/MS or gene sequencing, resulting in six genera-, , , , and To conduct this study, EtOAc extracts were prepared and tested against The crude extracts showed IC values ranging from 15 to 51 μg/mL against the trypomastigotes.

Considering the significance of biological and eco-friendly nanomaterials, in the present study, we have synthesized silver nanoparticles from the exopolysaccharide of recently recovered bacterial strain CEES51 from the Red Sea coastal area of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing was used to characterize the isolated bacteria, and it was identified as and assigned an accession number MH707257.1 GenBank.

The Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic strain, designated YC1039, was isolated from a seamount northern Mariana Trench in the tropical western Pacific. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain YC1039 was related to the genus Mesoflavibacter and had highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities to Mesoflavibacter sabulilitoris GJMS-9 (98.3%) and Mesoflavibacter zeaxanthinifaciens TD-ZX30 (98.

Antibacterial compounds are widely used in the treatment of human and animal diseases. The overuse of antibiotics has led to a rapid rise in the prevalence of drug-resistant bacteria, making the development of new antibacterial compounds essential. This study focused on developing a fast and easy method for identifying marine bacteria that produce antibiotic compounds.
