Photosystem II is a unique complex capable of absorbing light and splitting water. The complex has been thoroughly studied and to date there are more than 40 proteins identified, which bind to the complex either stably or transiently. Another special feature of this complex is the unusually high content of low molecular mass proteins that represent more than half of the proteins. In this review we summarize the recent findings on the low molecular mass proteins (<15kDa) and present an overview of the newly identified components as well. We have also performed co-expression analysis of the genes encoding PSII proteins to see if the low molecular mass proteins form a specific sub-group within the Photosystem II complex. Interestingly we found that the chloroplast-localized genes encoding PSII proteins display a different response to environmental and stress conditions compared to the nuclear localized genes. Glucansucrase Dsr_Wcp3a from a Weissella confusa strain discovered in fermented maize (pozol) was produced in E. coli BL21 resulting in three truncated forms of the native enzyme. An important modification of specificity is observed, as the truncated enzymes synthesize low molecular weight dextran from sucrose, probably due to the absence of domains IV and V, compared to the native enzyme which produces high molecular weight dextran.

In the past few years, three protein molecules-USP53, NPY2R, and DCTN1-AS1-have garnered significant attention in scientific research due to their potential implications in tumor development. Mass spectrometry and proteomics techniques were used to analyze the three-dimensional structure of these protein molecules and predict their active sites and functional domains. The development of stable biopharmaceutical formulations, such as monoclonal antibodies, poses a great challenge in the pharmaceutical industry. This study investigated the stabilizing effect of 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) in liquid and solid formulations of infliximab during processing and storage. The solid formulation was produced by a scaled-up high-speed electrospinning method, resulting in a product suitable for reconstitution with excellent dissolution properties.

Background: Over the past decade, the use of organophosphate insecticides including chlorpyrifos has faced increasing restrictions due to health concerns, leading to a rise in use of pyrethroids. Concerns about neurodevelopmental insults following pyrethroids exposure exist, but few studies have examined the long-term effects of childhood exposure to chlorpyrifos and pyrethroids on IQ.
Objective: To investigate the prospective associations between pyrethroids and chlorpyrifos exposure at age 5 years and IQ scores assessed at age 7.
