Article Synopsis
  • The article presents the Enhanced Gorilla Troops Algorithm (EGTA) as a new method for optimizing the placement of Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors (TCSC) in power grids, inspired by the behavior of gorilla groups.
  • EGTA includes features that enable better exploration and exploitation through techniques like the Tangent Flight Operator and Fitness-based Crossover Strategy, and its effectiveness is tested against other optimization methods using benchmark problems.
  • Results from simulations on IEEE power grids demonstrate that EGTA significantly reduces power losses compared to the original Gorilla Troops Algorithm, achieving notable improvements in TCSC allocation across different system configurations.

Introduction: In the principles of the organization of armed struggle of the defense forces of most developed countries of the world, considerable attention is paid to the evaluation of combat readiness of the military personnel. This procedure is conditioned by such interconnected goals of the armed struggle as the maximum realization of the combat potential and the minimization of personnel losses. The purpose of the work is to determine the physiological cost of the activities of the soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine with the help of miniature electrocardiographic hardware and software complexes.

Infectious Disease Institute, Policlinico S. Orsola-Malpighi, Bologna University, Bologna, Italy.

In the year 1630, similarly to other cities of Northern Italy, Bologna was affected by a plague epidemic. It occurred after the arrival of Lansquenet troops, engaged by the Emperor Frederick II in the siege of Mantua city. The human losses have been calculated by the historian demographer Bellettini in the terms of around 15,000 people, so that the number of inhabitants in Bologna declined from 62,000 to 47,000 units in the time span of 7-8 months.

The World War II Battle of Tarawa, 1943, was a devastating conflict that resulted in losses of more than 1100 American and 4690 Japanese troops. The United States government aims to identify and repatriate the remains of all missing American service members through the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Accounting Agency (DPAA) and its partners such as the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System's Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFMES-AFDIL). Remains associated with the Battle of Tarawa have been recovered from field excavations conducted by History Flight, a DPAA strategic partner, as well as from the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (NMCP) in Hawaii where unknowns have been disinterred for identification.

Magnetic nanoparticles, such as Fe₃O₄ and Co₃O₄, play a vital role in the research on advanced microwave absorbing materials, even if problems such as high density and narrow band impedance matching are still unsolved. Herein, the study of lightweight hollow Fe₃O₄@reduced graphite oxide (RGO) nanocomposites synthesized via the solvothermal method is presented. The microstructure and crystal morphology of the materials were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses.
