Percutaneous drainage under ultrasonographic guidance was carried out on 12 patients with liver cysts and 1 with an abdominal cyst. In 8 the cyst was proved to be of hydatid origin by means of direct detection of parasites in the aspirated fluid. In these individuals a 95% ethanol solution was subsequently introduced into the cystic cavity and slowly removed over 30 min. Direct observation, staining for viability assessment, and in vitro isolation attempts were done both before and after the injection of the alcoholic solution, thus making possible the immediate evaluation of the protoscolicidal properties of the solution used. The procedure seems to be therapeutically successful, safe, and feasible.

Background: Radical cystectomy constitutes the standard therapeutic approach for high-risk urothelial carcinomas of the bladder. Contemporary guidelines advise urologists to discontinue anticoagulation therapy during the perioperative period to mitigate the risk of significant intraoperative or postoperative hemorrhage. Nevertheless, in elderly patients with a history of coronary artery disease, the cessation of anticoagulant medication elevates the risk of acute myocardial infarction, thereby posing a substantial threat to their survival.

Interventional radiology (IR) has aided advances in the diagnosis and treatment of lung pathologies through procedures such as percutaneous biopsy, tumor ablation and drainage of intra-thoracic collections. The success and safety of these interventions largely depend on timely and accurate needle/device placement. A nulliparous woman in her 40s is referred to gynaecological oncology secondary to umbilical pain and bleeding with menses. Examination revealed a blood-filled cystic mass within an umbilical hernia consistent with umbilical endometrioma. The patient exhausted medical management options, then pursued surgical management via umbilectomy, excision of umbilical endometriosis, lysis of adhesions and umbilical hernia repair.

Objective: Soft tissue defects and postoperative wound healing complications related to calcaneus fractures may result in significant morbidity. The aim of this study was to investigate whether percutaneous minimally invasive screw internal fixation (PMISIF) can change this situation in the treatment of calcaneal fractures, and aimed to explore the mechanical effects of different internal fixation methods on Sanders type III calcaneal fractures through finite element analysis.
Methods: This retrospective analysis focused on 83 patients with Sanders II and III calcaneal fractures from March 2017 to March 2022.
