The aims of this review are to appraise the role of the stomach in satiation, the effects of incretin and other hormone agonists on weight loss and the role of altered gastric functions in their effects on obesity or glycaemic control. In addition to the gut in its role in enzymatic digestion and hormonal responses to nutrient ingestion, gastric motor functions include accommodation, trituration and emptying [gastric emptying (GE)] of food and elicitation of postprandial satiation and satiety. The postprandially released hormones most extensively studied and utilized therapeutically are glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP).

Introduction: Surgical approaches for tumors of the orbital apex and the spheno-orbital region (SOR) comprehend medial and lateral corridors. The TransOrbital NeuroEndoscopic (TONE) approach has recently been reported as a possible effective alternative to the classic lateral corridors, but literature about is still underestimated.
Research Question: The aim of this study was to make a critical appraisal of the results of using the lateral TONE approach in a monocentric consecutive series of SOR tumors.

Background: Despite being the gold-standard method for objectively assessing sleep, polysomnography (PSG) faces several limitations as it is expensive, time-consuming, and labor-intensive; requires various equipment and technical expertise; and is impractical for long-term or in-home use. Consumer wrist-worn wearables are able to monitor sleep parameters and thus could be used as an alternative for PSG. Consequently, wearables gained immense popularity over the past few years, but their accuracy has been a major concern.

Introduction: Pain is highly prevalent in older adults and often contextualized by multiple clinical conditions (pain comorbidities). Pain comorbidities increase with age and this makes clinical decisions more complex. To address gaps in clinical training and geriatric pain management, we established the Pain in Aging-Educational Assessment of Need (PAEAN) project to appraise the impacts of medical and mental health conditions on clinical decision-making regarding older adults with pain.

The conventional methamphetamine (MA) detection method using the Simon reaction can be affected by false positives owing to compounds similar to aliphatic secondary amines. In this study, we examined the new Simon reaction to improve the qualitative accuracy of MA detection to discriminate substances that give false positives in a conventional Simon reaction. After the conventional Simon reaction for MA and false positives (N-isopropylbenzylamine (NIP-BA), N-methylbenzylamine (NMe-BA), L-proline (Pro), and L-hydroxyproline (HYP)), which are colored blue, di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (t-Boc) reagent was added, and color tone changes were observed.
