Published: November 2011

The backings of 90 black electrical tapes were analyzed to evaluate the chemical components of these films, the ability of individual techniques to discriminate samples, and the ability of the techniques combined to distinguish samples. The techniques utilized and their respective discrimination results were stereomicroscopy and physical measurements, to include observation of surface features of the backing, width, and thickness measurements (c. 64%); Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) using a microscope accessory (c. 83%); pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS; c. 81%); and scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS; c. 87%). Ninety-four percent of the backings were discriminated through this combination of analytical methods. Finally, evaluating these results in conjunction with previously published data on the analysis of the adhesives from the same set of electrical tapes provided an overall discrimination of nearly 96%.

The Effect of Physiotherapy on Arthrogenic Muscle Inhibition After ACL Injury or Reconstruction: A Systematic Review.

Life (Basel)

December 2024

CESPU, Instituto Politécnico de Saúde do Norte, Escola Superior de Saúde do Vale do Ave, 4760-409 Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal.

Arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) following ACL injury or reconstruction is a common issue that affects muscle activation and functional recovery. Thus, the objective of this study was to systematize the literature on the effects of physiotherapy interventions in the rehabilitation of AMI after ACL injury or reconstruction. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines.

Plastic damage of REBCO (REBaCuO, where RE=rare earth) coated conductors by screening current stress (SCS) is a significant concern for ultra-high-field superconducting magnets. Indeed, the third Little Big Coil (LBC3), a REBCO magnet that generated a record, high field of 45.5 T, showed wavy plastic damage produced by excess SCS in all pancakes except two made with single-slit conductors having their slit edges pointing inward towards the magnet center.

The stages of solid-state processing of nanocomposites, based on nascent disentangled ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (d-UHMWPE) reactor powders (RPs) and carbon nanoparticles (NPs) of various types, were meticulously investigated. The potential for optimizing the filler distribution through variation of the processing parameters, and the impact of the d-UHMWPE RP and nanofiller type on the electrical conductivity of the resulting composites were discussed. The specifics of the dependences of conductivity and tensile strength on the deformation ratio for the composites, oriented under homogeneous shear conditions, were investigated.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of Kinesio Taping (KT) application on the single-leg counter-movement jump (CMJ) and surface electromyographic (sEMG) activity in trained female athletes, in both resting and fatigued states. In this single-blind, randomized, sham-controlled trial, twenty-four healthy trained female athletes were randomly assigned to either the KT (n=12) or the sham tape group (n=12). KT was applied using an inhibition technique on rectus femoris, vastus medialis, biceps femoris, and lateral gastrocnemius muscles of the dominant leg.

Effect of neuromuscular taping and transcutaneous electrical stimulation on neuromusculoskeletal impairments in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy: A case-series.

J Bodyw Mov Ther

Maharishi Markandeshwar Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to Be University), Mullana, Ambala, Haryana, 133207, India. Electronic address:

Introduction: Approximately 60-70% of individuals with diabetes experience varying degrees of damage to their nervous system, resulting in a condition known as diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). DPN usually involves distal body parts and is characterised as distal symmetrical sensorimotor neuropathy which is progressive in nature and follows a "glove and stocking pattern". It has significantly contributed to neuropathic pain, decreased nerve conduction velocity (NCV), impaired proprioception, compromised balance, and postural instability.
