Background: Prospective trial evidence is lacking regarding the application of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in transvaginal pelvic floor reconstruction surgery among older patients. Our study aimed to investigate whether implementing the ERAS protocol could enhance post-operative recovery in this patient population.
Methods: Older patients undergoing elective transvaginal pelvic floor reconstruction surgery were randomly assigned to either the ERAS group or the conventional group.
Composition and liquid-to-solid maturation of protein aggregates contribute to bacterial dormancy development and recovery.

Recalcitrant bacterial infections can be caused by various types of dormant bacteria, including persisters and viable but nonculturable (VBNC) cells. Despite their clinical importance, we know fairly little about bacterial dormancy development and recovery. Reduced weight-bearing during spaceflight has been associated with musculoskeletal degradation that risks astronaut health and performance in transit and upon reaching deep space destinations. Previous rodent experiments aboard the international space station (ISS) have identified that the spaceflight-induced molecular arthritic phenotype was characterized with an increase in oxidative stress. This study evaluated if treatment with a superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic on orbit could prevent spaceflight-induced damage to the knee and hip articular cartilage, and the menisci in rodents.

A novel biochar material with magnetic modification by MnFeO and surficial hydroxyl grafting (h-MFO-BC) was synthesized for capturing HMs (Cd, Pb and Cu) and their competition in composite systems was investigated. The modification of hydroxyl considerably improved the adsorption capacity of HMs. Chemisorption and monolayer and homogeneous reaction dominated adsorption processes.
