A new functionalised graphene sheet (FGS) filled poly(dimethyl)siloxane insulator nanocomposite has been developed with high dielectric constant, making it well suited for applications in flexible electronics. The dielectric permittivity increased tenfold at 10 Hz and 2 wt.% FGS, while preserving low dielectric losses and good mechanical properties. The presence of functional groups on the graphene sheet surface improved the compatibility nanofiller/polymer at the interface, reducing the polarisation process. This study demonstrates that functionalised graphene sheets are ideal nanofillers for the development of new polymer composites with high dielectric constant values.PACS: 78.20.Ci, 72.80.Tm, 62.23.Kn.

The existing synthetic protocols for the direct functionalization of carbon-based nanomaterials often entail limitations due to their harsh reaction conditions, which require the use of high temperatures for extended periods. This study aims to overcome these limitations by developing mild and efficient synthetic protocols around 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. Beginning with the well-established azomethine ylide derivatization, we progress to the utilization of nitrile oxide, and of nitrone derivatives for the functionalization of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as well as of nanodiamonds (NDs).

This work presents a straightforward, highly sensitive, and cost-effective method for the simultaneous determination of V, Ti, Ni and Ga by high resolution-continuum source electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometer (HR-CS ETAAS) in aqueous environmental samples (tap and seawater samples). The system is based on retention of the analyte onto a novel magnetic nanomaterial (M@GO magnetic graphene oxide) functionalised with methylthiosalicilate (MTS). The formed complexes between the M@GO-MTS and the target analytes were broken, adding 1 mL of nitric acid (6%) and sonication for 5 min.

Objective: The objectives of this study were to develop a tooth-binding graphene quantum dots silver nanocomposites (ALN-GQDs-Ag) and evaluate their antibacterial, mineralising, and discolouring properties for the prevention of dental caries.
Methods: In this study, ALN-GQDs-Ag were developed by synthesising nano silver (Ag) with graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and functionalised GQDs with alendronate (ALN). ALN-GQDs-Ag were characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), zeta potential analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopy.
