Objective: Congenital heart disease affects 1% of US births, with many babies requiring major cardiothoracic surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), exposing the more critical patients to neurodevelopmental impairment. Optimal surgical parameters to minimize neuronal injury are unknown.
