Published: August 2011

In this paper, the issue of misalignment in phase retrieval by means of optical linear filtering is discussed. The filtering setup is based on a 4f configuration with a spatial light modulator (SLM) as an active element, located in the Fourier domain. From the analysis, crucial parameters for the alignment procedure of the setup's optical axes and the center of the SLM are identified. Furthermore, a method to automatically as well as electronically compensate such effects by modifying the phase pattern displayed on the SLM is introduced. Experimental results are presented that validate the compensation approach.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the sleep characteristics, circadian rhythms, behavior, and postnatal development of children with and without language difficulties (LDs) and the association of these variables with melatonin-containing food (FMT) consumption. The study involved parents who anonymously and voluntarily provided their children's personal data and assessed LDs, bedtime, meal timing, behavioral problems, gross motor skill development, and FMT consumption. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the associations between study variables.

Circadian misalignment and disrupted rest-activity rhythms have been linked to adverse health and educational outcomes, yet few studies have considered their relationships with economic outcomes. We investigate associations between multiple accelerometer-measured circadian misalignment traits (Composite Phase Deviation and the Sleep Regularity Index) and rest-activity rhythm traits (Inter-daily Stability, Intra-daily variability and relative amplitude), with occupational attainment, measured using the average wage paid to an individual's occupation. We use data from 20 356 UK Biobank participants who wore an accelerometer (2013-16), provided employment data for the year they wore the accelerometer, and supplied covariate data at recruitment (2006-10).

Resolving structural misalignments on the nanoscale is of utmost importance in areas such as semiconductor device manufacturing. Metaphotonics provides a powerful toolbox to efficiently transduce information on the nanoscale into measurable far-field observables. In this work, we propose and demonstrate a novel interlaced displacement sensing platform based on diffractive anisotropic metasurfaces combined with polarimetric Fourier microscopy capable of resolving a few nanometer displacements within a device layer.

With the development of smart technology and the increasing variety of everyday products, factors influencing product service touchpoint design have become more diverse and complex. Existing service touchpoint design methods and models often focus narrowly on user research, co-design, and risk analyses, lacking a systematic approach. Consequently, they struggle to deliver solutions that align with user needs.

Ephexin proteins are guanine nucleotide exchange factors for the Rho GTPases. We reported that Ephexin4 regulates M-phase progression downstream of phosphorylated EphA2, a receptor-type tyrosine kinase, through RhoG activation; however, the regulation of Ephexin4 during M phase remains unknown. In this study, a novel Ephexin4 phosphorylation site was identified at Ser41, exclusively in M phase.
