A scanning and rotating nanoslit is used to measure submicrometer features in focused spot distributions. Using a filtered backprojection technique, a highly accurate reconstruction is demonstrated. Experimental results are confirmed by simulating the scanning slit technique using a physical optics simulation program. Analysis of various error mechanisms is reported, and the reconstruction algorithm is determined to be very resilient. The slit is 125 nm wide and 50 μm long and is fabricated on a 120 nm thick layer of aluminum. The size of the image field is 15 μm, and simulations indicate that 200 nm Rayleigh resolution is possible with an infinitely narrow slit.

The purpose of this manuscript is to report a rare case of pediatric central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) in the setting of atypical hypercoagulable tests. An 11-year-old female presented to the emergency department with painless, visual changes in the left eye. Ophthalmological examination was remarkable for a central area of retinal ischemia and edema with sparing along the distribution of the cilioretinal artery along with a cherry red spot, all of which were consistent with a CRAO.

A novel remote deep ultraviolet laser ablation inlet connected to a dual electrospray ionization-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (rDUVLAESCI) source is presented. This system allows for the simultaneous and spatial acquisition of mass spectrometry (MS) data for organic molecules with diverse polarities and molecular weights. Deep 193 nm UV laser ablation was used to sample analytes from dried spots for molecular MS analysis precisely.

Surface plasmons offer a promising avenue in the pursuit of swift and localized manipulation of magnetism for advanced magnetic storage and information processing technology. However, observing and understanding spatiotemporal interactions between surface plasmons and spins remains challenging, hindering optimal optical control of magnetism. Here, we demonstrate the spatiotemporal observation of patterned ultrafast demagnetization dynamics in permalloy mediated by propagating surface plasmon polaritons with sub-picosecond time- and sub-μm spatial- scales by employing Lorentz ultrafast electron microscopy combined with excitation through transient optical gratings.

The application of DNA data on a worldwide sampling has revolutionized the infrageneric classification of the highly diverse ectomycorrhizal genus . Based on collections made in New Zealand, East Asia and North America, this study describes a new subgenus , the ninth subgenus of . Even though BLASTn of the ITS sequences suggested affinities with species of subgenera and the phylogenetic analysis based on a five-locus DNA dataset placed the target samples in an independent major clade that is taxonomically equivalent to subgenus.

In the long and complex process of geological evolution, the rise of the Himalayan movement and the strong Quaternary glacial movement 400,000 years ago have shaped the highly distinctive travertine landform landscape of Huanglong, China. The overflow of karst water in the high travertine layer has formed magnificent waterfalls and wonderful karst caves as well as the world's largest open-air travertine beaches and pools. The unique travertine landscape has entered the public's vision.
