The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Urologie (German Urological Association), established in 1907, was a German-Austrian medical society in which Jewish physicians held important positions. When the Nazis seized power in 1933, the Austrian Hans Rubritius was president of the society. The non-German presidency and the exclusion of Jewish colleagues from the professional society and medical practice led to a halt of the society's activities. At the same time in the mid 1930s, German urologists founded the Gesellschaft Reichsdeutscher Urologen (Association of Reichs-German Urologists) whose members aligned themselves with Nazi health policies and in turn received professional and personal benefits.

Objective: We evaluated the accuracy of oncologists' estimates of expected survival time in recurrent ovarian cancer.
Methods: Oncologists estimated expected survival time at baseline for each patient, who were then followed up for survival time. We hypothesized that oncologists' estimates of expected survival time would be independently significant predictors of survival, unbiased (approximately equal proportions [50%] living longer versus shorter than their expected survival time), or imprecise (<30% within 0.

Background: Primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1) is an autosomal recessive disorder with dysregulated glyoxylate metabolism in the liver. Oxalate over-production leads to renal stones, progressive kidney damage and renal failure, with potentially life-threatening systemic oxalosis. Nedosiran is a synthetic RNA interference therapy, designed to reduce hepatic lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) to decrease oxalate burden in PH.

Subgroup analyses in clinical trials sometimes reveal gender-/sex-dependent differences in cancer outcomes. However, drug approvals are rarely restricted to a specific sex or gender, and recommendations regarding dosage are rarely tailored accordingly. Furthermore, discrepancies exist between the gender-/sex-dependent enrollment rates in clinical trials and real-world incidence or mortality rates.

White light cystoscopy is a precise instrument for the detection and treatment of papillary bladder tumors. Various additional macroscopic detection methods have been established. Some of them, especially PDD or NBI, have been shown to have an additional benefit on the recurrence rate of bladder tumors, so they should be used as part of the diagnosis and treatment when available.

Background: The BCG vaccine induces trained immunity, an epigenetic-mediated increase in innate immune responsiveness. Therefore, this clinical trial evaluated if BCG-induced trained immunity could decrease coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related frequency or severity.
Methods: A double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of healthcare workers randomized participants to vaccination with BCG TICE or placebo (saline).
