The creation of novel engineered multimodal nanoparticles (NPs) is a key focus in bionanotechnology and can lead to deep understanding of biological processes at the molecular level. Here, we present a multi-component system made of gold-coupled core-shell SPIONs, as a new nanoprobe with signal enhancement in surface Raman spectroscopy, due to its jagged-shaped gold shell coating.

Polymicrobial biofilm infections, especially associated with medical devices such as peripheral venous catheters, are challenging in clinical settings for treatment and management. In this study, we examined the mixed biofilm formed by Candida glabrata and Klebsiella pneumoniae, which were co-isolated from the same peripheral venous catheter. Our results revealed that C.

Transforming plastics into single-atom catalysts is a promising strategy for upcycling waste plastics into value-added functional materials. Herein, a graphene-based single-atom catalyst with atomically dispersed FeNCl sites (Fe─N/Cl─C) is produced from high-density polyethylene wastes via one-pot catalytic pyrolysis. The Fe─N/Cl─C catalyst exhibited much higher turnover frequency and surface area normalized activity (K) compared with the Fe─N─C catalyst without axial Cl modulation.

Herein, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNT) embedded with RuPdIrPtAu-high entropy alloys (HEA) via pulsed laser irradiation in liquids are successfully fabricated. The resultant composite synergistically enhances hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR)-boosted water electrolysis. Notably, HEA with ≈2-5 nm size, are uniformly distributed across the surface of the CNTs.

Understanding the penetration behaviour of pesticide active ingredient (AI) in the presence of adjuvants is important in managing application efficacy and minimizing residues. This study investigates the impact of non-ionic surfactant alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) on the penetration of two pesticides, systemic thiabendazole and non-systemic phosmet, in apple and spinach. Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) was employed using two different detection methods, namely XZ depth mapping and XY area mapping, in conjunction with liquid Chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to investigate the penetration of various pesticide formulations over time.

This study used Raman and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to monitor small real-time changes in powder blends and tablets in low-dose pharmaceutical formulations. The research aims to enhance process analytical technology (PAT) in pharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring high-quality and uniform products with applications to produce drugs with narrow therapeutic indices (NTI). The study utilizes Raman and NIR spatially resolved spectroscopy (SRS) techniques to monitor a moderate cohesive material's active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) concentrations during manufacturing.
