We evaluated the effects of stability balls on in-seat and on-task behavior of students with attention and hyperactivity concerns. A group of 8 students in the 4th and 5th grades was observed 3 times/wk for 12 wk using a single-subject A-B continuous time-series design. We analyzed data collected from standardized measures and classroom observations for mean differences across pre- and postintervention phases. Results of the stability ball intervention revealed increased levels of attention, decreased levels of hyperactivity, and increased time on task and in seat or on ball. Findings from the social validity questionnaire demonstrated that teachers preferred the stability balls over chairs. This study provides additional evidence for the effectiveness of stability balls in the general education classroom for children who exhibit difficulties with attention and hyperactivity.

BACKGROUND The Smovey Vibroswing exercise device consists of a circular tube containing 4 steel balls, partly covered by a cushioning handle, to strengthen the arm and shoulder muscles. This study aimed to compare the effects of using a Smovey Vibroswing versus dumbbell exercises on muscle activity and body composition of the upper limbs in 23 women under 30 years of age. MATERIAL AND METHODS Subjects were 23 women under the age of 30 years, residing in South Korea, with no musculoskeletal diseases or shoulder surgeries in the past year.

This study presents the synthesis and application of water-ball (sodium polyacrylate) stabilized zero-valent iron nanoparticles (wb@Fe) for the eco-friendly degradation of Methyl Orange (MO). The nanoparticles were prepared using a chemical reduction method using NaBH. Characterization techniques including Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were employed to analyze the morphology, elemental composition, valent state and crystallinity of the nanoparticles.

In cricket fast bowling, late swing can increase interception difficulty for opposition batters. However, little is known about the occurrence and cause of late swing. This study investigated ball kinematics and the effect of changing kinematics on late swing with new cricket balls.

In this work, we investigate the transition from an amorphous state to crystal ordering of 3 mm-sized polystyrene beads in a two-dimensional system between two plates, one of them fixed and the other is mobile and can move across the beads. The system is vibrated vertically, and we have investigated the effect of the frequency, the number of particles, and the different materials covering the bottom and top plate. We found that crystallisation is promoted by the motion of the upper plate, which pushes particles to the centre of the plate's configuration and by the onset of tribocharged-induced electrostatic interactions.
