The frequency-dependent complex heat capacity has been derived for spatially restricted systems with a bulk phase transition. It is demonstrated that internal energy relaxation is determined by the eigenvalues of the Fokker-Planck operator, providing an insight into the symmetry of the reduced free energy. The size driven properties of the energy relaxation rates are discussed and the universal ratio between them has been found.

Levilactobacillus brevis YT108, identified for its ability to metabolize prebiotic xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS), emerges as a candidate for probiotic use in synbiotic food formulations. This study aimed to investigate the metabolic and genomic traits associated with XOS metabolism in YT108 and to assess its probiotic attributes through whole genome sequencing and in vitro assays. Strain YT108 exhibited robust growth kinetics on XOS as the sole carbon source, with a growth profile comparable to that on glucose, achieving a pH reduction to 4.

In this study, the interaction of waste snake skin (Periostracum serpentis), a keratin-based biowaste composite material, with uranyl ions, the predominant form of uranium in aqueous solutions, was investigated to determine whether it could be used as an adsorbent. SEM, FTIR, BET and EDX analyses were performed to elucidate the material's surface and structural properties. The effects of the amount of adsorbent, uranyl ion concentration, pH, temperature, and adsorption time were investigated to optimize uranium removal with this material.

High-pressure and high-temperature Raman spectra of natural pyromorphite, vanadinite and mimetite were measured up to 11 GPa and 973 K, respectively. No phase transition was observed within the temperature and pressure ranges in this study. Raman modes for pyromorphite, vanadinite and mimetite vary with temperature or pressure linearly.

Heat-stress-induced oxidative and inflammatory responses were important factors contributing to chicken intestinal damage. The purpose of this study was based on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Physalis Calyx seu Fructus (Jin Deng Long, JDL) to investigate its efficacy and mechanism in relieving chicken heat stress damage. Primary chicken embryo duodenum cells and 90 30-day-old specific-pathogen-free chicken were randomly divided into control and JDL groups to establish heat stress models and .

Magnetic systems, wherein competing degree of freedoms arising from spin orbit coupling and crystal electric field lead to non-trivial magnetic ground states, remains in the forefront of research in condensed matter physics. Here, we present a comprehensive investigation on three-dimensional rare-earth based spin systems NdTaO4 and NdNbO4, where the Nd ions sit on a stretched diamond lattice. No signatures of long-range ordering and spin freezing are observed down to 1.
