Spatial and temporal regulation of gene expression is achieved through instructions provided by the distal transcriptional regulatory elements known as enhancers. How enhancers transmit such information to their targets has been the subject of intense investigation. Recent advances in high throughput analysis of the mammalian transcriptome have revealed a surprising result indicating that a large number of enhancers are transcribed to noncoding RNAs. Although long noncoding RNAs were initially shown to confer epigenetic transcriptional repression, recent studies have uncovered a role for a class of such transcripts in gene-specific activation, often from distal genomic regions. In this review, we discuss recent findings on the role of long noncoding RNAs in transcriptional regulation, with an emphasis on new developments on the functional links between long noncoding RNAs and enhancers.

Objective: This study evaluated the significance of lncRNA SIX3OS1 in acute stroke and PSCI aiming to identify a novel biomarker.
Background: Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The role of macrophages as proficient antigen-presenting cells in aGVHD is a prominent area of investigation in contemporary research. The association between long noncoding RNA nuclear enriched abundant transcript 1 (lncRNA NEAT1) and the macrophage function is of significant interest.
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a major malignancy globally, characterized by high malignancy and intricate molecular mechanisms. This study aims to explore the role of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) lnc-EST885 in HCC development.
Methods: Cell experiments including FISH, western blot, flow cytometry and functional analysis were used to elucidate the effects of lnc-EST885 on cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and EMT processes.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of small non-coding RNA molecules, have risen to prominence as key regulators of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Their significance in regulating virus-host interactions is now widely acknowledged.

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, such as gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and esophageal cancer, pose a significant medical and economic burden globally, accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths each year. A lack of knowledge about the molecular mechanisms of GI cancers is reflected in the low efficacy of treatment for individuals with late stage and recurring illness. Understanding the molecular pathways that promote the growth of GI cancers may open doors for their therapy.
