A detailed study on the influence of the substrate loading (relative to the catalyst content) and supply pressure of the feedstock on the diameter and distribution of the number of walls in carbon nanotubes in alcohol chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is presented. Here we show how one can modify the technique for the bulk formation of high quality desired nanotube types: single-walled, double-walled or multi-walled CNTs. The influence of the concentration of the catalysts with respect to the substrate concentration was examined to select the optimal conditions in terms of the sample quality. Resonance Raman spectroscopy and high resolution transmission electron microscopy have been applied to characterize the samples.

This study aimed to investigate the macroscopic, light microscopic (LM) and scanning electron microscopic (SEM) characteristics of the pecten oculi in common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus). A total of six eyeballs from three common kestrels were used as the study material. The examination revealed that the bulbus oculi was spherical in shape and its diameter exceeded the axial-global length.

Confined space fires could easily cause serious casualties and property damage, and foam is an effective means of preventing confined space fires. The existing foam generator does not have both momentum and foam expansion rate (FER) and is poorly suited to confined spaces. In order to develop a foam generator suitable for confined space fire protection, an in-depth analysis of the physical foaming characteristics of self-suction foam is required, and the structure of the foam generator is optimized accordingly.

Background: PhospholipaseC γ2 (PLCG2) is known to have direct link with genetic risk factors for Alzheimer's like dementia (AD). PLCG2 has been previously demonstrated to have association with Aß uptake through microglia. And mostly expressed in dentate gyrus (DG) network of hippocampus.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder leading to dementia. The existence of individuals who remain cognitively intact despite presenting histopathological signs of AD, here referred to as "Non-demented with AD neuropathology" (NDAN), suggests that some mechanisms are triggered to resist cognitive impairment. These individuals are distinguished by the presence of highly phagocytic microglia capable of clearing damaged synapses near plaques, mitigating further damage to axons and dendrites.

Germanium (Ge) colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) were synthesized by thermal decomposition of GeI using capping ligand mixtures of oleylamine (OAm), octadecene (ODE), and trioctylphosphine (TOP). Average diameters could be tuned across a wide range, from 3 to 18 nm, by adjusting reactant concentrations, heating rates, and reaction temperatures. OAm promotes decomposition of GeI to Ge and serves as a weakly bound capping ligand.
