Assessment of skeletal maturity is a common clinical practice to investigate adolescent growth and endocrine disorders. The distal radius and ulna (DRU) maturity classification is a practical and easy-to-use scheme that was designed for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis clinical management and presents high sensitivity in predicting the growth peak and cessation among adolescents. However, time-consuming and error-prone manual assessment limits DRU in clinical application.

Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the clinical characteristics of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) who fulfill the ClASsification criteria for Psoriatic ARthritis (CASPAR) 18 years after disease onset in a population-based setting and to identify features likely to predict psoriatic arthritis (PsA).
Methods: Patients with JIA from defined geographic regions of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden with disease onset from 1997 to 2000 were enrolled prospectively and followed up for 18 years. Clinical, laboratory, and heredity data for psoriasis were collected.

Background: Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) is increasingly used to evaluate pediatric inflammatory arthritis. This study aimed to explore the relationship between MSUS findings with medication modifications in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and clinical disease activity measurements (clinical Juvenile Arthritis Disease Activity Score [cJADAS-10], active joint count [AJC], patient/parent global assessment [PPGA], and physician global assessment [PGA]).
Methods: Data from patients with JIA who underwent a 12-joint (bilateral second and third metacarpophalangeal, wrist, elbow, knee, and ankle) MSUS examination during a 57-month period were collected.

Synovectomy refers to the removal of all or part of the hypertrophied soft tissue membrane on the inside of the joint capsule or around tendons. Historically, this was typically performed for rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions of the hand, but following the development of more advanced medical treatments, the role of synovectomy has come into question. In this article, the authors outline the biologic basis for synovectomy and then consider its present and future role in the management of joint and tendon disease, followed by what further research is needed.
