We study the behavior of different functionals of the one-body reduced density matrix (1RDM) for systems with fractional z-component of the total spin. We define these systems as ensembles of integer spin states. It is shown that, similarly to density functional theory, the error in the dissociation of diatomic molecules is directly related to the deviation from constancy of the atomic total energies as functions of the fractional spin. However, several functionals of the 1RDM show a size inconsistency which leads to additional errors. We also investigate the difference between a direct evaluation of the energy of an ensemble of integer-spin systems and a direct minimization of the energy of a fractional-spin system.

Purpose: The neuropathologic mechanisms of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) are unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the alterations of neurovascular coupling (NVC) in patients with SSNHL and its association with hematologic inflammatory factors.
Methods: The amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF), fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), and degree centrality (DC) were calculated in 48 patients with SSNHL and 54 age-, gender-, and education-matched healthy control (HC), and also utilized the arterial spin labeling imaging (ASL) to calculate cerebral blood flow (CBF).

Background: Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) cause debilitating secondary conditions such as severe muscle deterioration, cardiovascular, and metabolic dysfunctions, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) combined with cycling exercise (FES-cycling) has shown promise in improving muscle function and health in individuals with SCI.
Objective: This pilot study aimed to investigate the potential role of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess muscle health during and after an FES-cycling rehabilitation program.

We realize a Laughlin state of two rapidly rotating fermionic atoms in an optical tweezer. By utilizing a single atom and spin resolved imaging technique, we sample the Laughlin wave function thereby revealing its distinctive features, including a vortex distribution in the relative motion, correlations in the particles' relative angle, and suppression of the interparticle interactions. Our Letter lays the foundation for atom-by-atom assembly of fractional quantum Hall states in rotating atomic gases.

A fundamental manifestation of the nontrivial correlations of an incompressible fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state is that an electron added to it disintegrates into more elementary particles, namely fractionally-charged composite fermions (CFs). We show here that the Girvin-MacDonald-Platzman (GMP) density-wave excitation of the ν=n/(2pn±1) FQH states also splits into more elementary single CF excitons. In particular, the GMP graviton, which refers to the recently observed spin-2 neutral excitation in the vanishing wave vector limit [Liang et al.

Background: Clinically significant liver fibrosis is associated with future adverse events in patients with steatotic liver disease. We designed a software tool for detection of clinically significant liver fibrosis in primary care.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we developed and validated LiverPRO using six independent cohorts from Denmark, Germany, and England that included patients from primary and secondary care with steatotic liver disease related to alcohol or metabolic dysfunction.
