As the depth of coal mining in China continues to increase, the fracturing of coal rock masses has an increasingly complex impact on the surrounding rock roadways. The majority of the mine's roadways run through coal rock masses with hard roofs and soft bottoms, which typically exhibit complex dynamic behaviour. To further research the mechanical behaviour and fracture evolution of coal rock masses under hard-roof and soft-floor conditions, the study is based on the majority of working faces in a mine, which have hard roofs and soft floors.

Oil has become a prevalent global pollutant, stimulating the research to improve the techniques to separate oil from water. Materials with special wetting properties-primarily those that repel water while attracting oil-have been proposed as suitable candidates for this task. However, one limitation in developing efficient substrates is the limited available volume for oil absorption.

The fractal structure of aggregates consisting of primary nanoparticles naturally arises during their synthesis. While typically considered to be a fully stochastic process, we suspect long-range interactions, in particular van der Waals forces, to induce an active pull on particles, altering the clustering process. Using an off-grid 3D model, we show that an active pull decreases the density and fractal dimension of formed clusters.

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored societies' need for education and preparedness in addressing global environmental and health crises. Raising public awareness of the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health is essential to engaging the public in environmental conservation and disease prevention. The One Health approach offers a holistic and multidisciplinary view for tackling challenges related to environmental and health issues by emphasizing the interplay of these three interconnected health dimensions.
