Objective: To optimize the process for purification of geniposide in the extract fluid of Gardenia jasminoides with macroporous absorption resin.

Methods: By comparing the content and transfer ratio of geniposide during the process of purification, we optimized the process for purification of geniposide.

Results: The optimal process for purification of geniposide with D301R macroporous absorption resin included the diameter height ratio 1:7.5, the concentration of the extract fluid of Gardenia jasminoides 2:1, the flow rate 1BV/h (1BV represented one column volume), the sample volume 1/3BV. We loaded the sample and left it for 2 hours, afterwards, rinsed the macroporous absorption resin using 2BV water until the solution became colourless. Then we rinsed the macroporous absorption resin with 20% alcohol, and the volume of elution solvent was 2BV. We collected 20% alcohol elution solvent and recycle alcohol using rotating evaporation and dried the rest solution in a vacuum to get the light yellow powder which was the purified geniposide.

Conclusion: This process is simple and affordable, can be used to refine and purify geniposide in the extract fluid of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. It provides a guidance for industrial production basis.

Background: Excessive lipogenesis of the skin triggers some dermatological concerns, such as enlarged pores, acne, and blackheads. Although topical drug treatments can offer temporary relief, their prolonged usage may lead to side effects of dryness, irritation, or allergic reactions. Consequently, the development of safer and efficacious ingredients in cosmetics for managing sebum overproduction represents a significant yet challenging endeavor.

Uncontrollable haemorrhage and associated microbial contamination in the battlefield and civilian injuries pose a tremendous threat to healthcare professionals. Such traumatic wounds often necessitate an effective point-of-care solution to prevent the consequent morbidity owing to blood loss or haemorrhage. However, developing superior hemostatic materials with anti-infective properties remains a challenge.

(1) Background: Collagen, a natural polymer, is widely used in the fabrication of membranes for guided bone regeneration (GBR). These membranes are sourced from various tissues, such as skin, pericardium, peritoneum, and tendons, which exhibit differences in regenerative outcomes. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the morphological and chemical properties of porcine collagen membranes from five different tissue sources: skin, pericardium, dermis, tendons, and peritoneum.
