Published: September 2011

An experimental and theoretical examination of the coupling modes within superstructures of gold nanorod trimers is presented. The experimentally determined spectrum of the nanorod trimers is reported and the modes are elucidated using an electrostatic eigenmode method based on the coupling of evanescent electric fields. The theory is able to reproduce the experimental spectrum well, and the nature of the modes and interactions are discussed.

Terminal metal-phosphorus (M-P) complexes are of significant contemporary interest as potential platforms for P-atom transfer (PAT) chemistry. Decarbonylation of metal-phosphaethynolate (M-PCO) complexes has emerged as a general synthetic approach to terminal M-P complexes. M-P complexes that are stabilized by strong M-P multiple bonds are kinetically persistent and isolable.

Based on the DCV-C system of fullerene acceptor organic solar cell active materials, the charge transfer process of D-A type molecular materials under the action of an external electric field () was explored. Within the range of electric field application, the excited state characteristics exhibit certain regular changes. Based on reducing the excitation energy, the excitation mode shows a trend of developing toward low excited states.

Interstellar spectroscopic detection of HC(S)NC and DC(S)NC.

Department of Earth and Environmental Science, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104-6243, USA.

The detection of HC(S)CN in TMC-1 suggests that HC(S)NC may also exist. To aid in its possible detection, HC(S)NC and its deuterated isotopologue DC(S)NC were investigated via high-level ab initio methods, specifically CCSD(T) and CCSD(T)-F12. By utilizing multidimensional potential energy surfaces derived from explicitly correlated coupled-cluster calculations, we analyzed their geometrical parameters, vibrational frequencies, rotational constants, and a comprehensive set of spectroscopic constants generated via the vibrational second-order perturbation theory, vibrational self-consistent field, and vibrational configuration interaction theory(VCI) approaches.

Growing evidence of the benefits of home ventilatory support in patients with chronic respiratory failure along with technological advances in ventilators have enabled their use in overly complex situations, shaping a new scenario for physicians. This has further given rise to new challenges related to their incorporation into current medical practice. However, this evolution needs to be coupled with knowledge and skills of physicians who are willing to prescribe Home Mechanical Ventilation (HMV), in order to prevent them from making inappropriate choices or adjustments that may ultimately have ethical and legal implications.

Supercapacitors are rapidly gaining attention as next-generation energy storage devices due to their superior power and energy densities. This study pioneers the investigation of Mn/Zn co-doping in α-Cu₂V₂O₇ (CVO) to enhance its performance as a supercapacitor electrode material. Structural and local Structural properties of Mn/Zn co-doped CVO have been investigated through X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS), revealing significant distortions that enhance supercapacitor performance.
