The purpose of the study was ultrastructural evaluation of long-lasting activity of an antibiotic from anthracycline group-adriamycin (ADR), on fetal kidneys from rat females which 4 weeks before fertilization were given a single dose of adriamycin intraperitoneally. The results showed the damage of glomerular filtration barrier (fusion of podocytes' foot processes) and degenerative lesions in tubular epithelial cells (EC). Those changes were described in literature in the case of adriamycin induced nephrotic syndrome in adult rats. If those lesions are due to increased glomerular permeability for proteins or cytotoxic activity of adriamycin can be decided after further biochemical tests of fetal urine and blood.

Malaria vaccines consisting of metabolically active Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) sporozoites can offer improved protection compared with currently deployed subunit vaccines. In a previous study, we demonstrated the superior protective efficacy of a three-dose regimen of late-arresting genetically attenuated parasites administered by mosquito bite (GA2-MB) compared with early-arresting counterparts (GA1-MB) against a homologous controlled human malaria infection. Background: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy outcomes of the traditional Judkins left and right catheters with those of the recently introduced Tiger catheter in female participants aged 65 years and older who underwent transradial coronary angiography.
Methods: A cohort of 160 female patients aged 65 and older who were scheduled for coronary angiography (CAG) were divided into two groups according to the use of Tiger (n = 80) or Judkins (n = 80) catheters for radial angiography at a ratio of 1:1, respectively. We analyzed the effectiveness of the Tiger and Judkins catheters, the incidence of catheter failure, contrast volume, CAG time, fluoroscopy time, dose-area product (in mGy/cm), and the occurrence of radial spasm.

Introduction: Acute normovolaemic haemodilution (ANH) is a perioperative blood management technique involving the removal of whole blood and simultaneous infusion of colloids or crystalloids to achieve haemodilution while maintaining normovolaemia. However, its efficacy in reducing the requirement for perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion remains controversial due to inconsistent findings in the literature. An individualised red cell transfusion strategy, guided by the West China Liu's Score, has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing the need for allogeneic red cell transfusion.
