Objective: DynaCT(®) is a method for obtaining computed tomography (CT)-like images using a C-arm system. Our aim was to compare the accuracy of these images to multidetector CT (MDCT) images prior to endovascular aortic repair (EVAR).
Methods: A non-consecutive group of 20 elective patients were prospectively exposed to MDCT and one additional DynaCT before EVAR. Six arterial measurements and nine anatomical areas were chosen to: (1) visualise the peri-aortic soft tissue and assess the possibility to diagnose a potential haemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm and (2) make the pre-treatment measurements before insertion of stent graft. Differences between modalities and readers were statistically compared using a linear mixed model.
Results: For maximum aortic diameter, a significant difference of 1.3 mm was found between techniques (p = 0.043). Visibility scores were significantly better for all areas in MDCT data. Pre-treatment evaluation with DynaCT before EVAR was possible for all areas; evaluation of the iliac arteries were suboptimal due to a limited imaging volume size. Significant inter-reader differences were found for all anatomical areas.
Conclusion: The result indicates that DynaCT gives sufficient information to determine the correct treatment and for selecting the proper stent graft before EVAR. A limited volume size reduces the evaluation of the iliac arteries.

This study introduces an innovative bio-based sorbent bead crafted by integrating chitosan (CS) biopolymers, Fe(NO3)3 and polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) via glutaraldehyde crosslinking. The primary focus of this study was the concurrent separation of diverse tetracycline antibiotics (TCs), followed by rigorous reversed-phase liquid chromatography analysis. The fabricated CS/Fe@PDA sorbent beads were comprehensively characterized using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, revealing a surface rich in active carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and oxygen (O) moieties.

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of slow-coagulation transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (SC-TSCPC) in pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXG).
Methods: A single-center, retrospective non-comparative study including consecutive patients with medically uncontrolled PXG who underwent SC-TSCPC (1250-milliwatt power and 4-second duration). The primary outcome measure was surgical success (defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) between 6 - 21 mmHg with ≥20% reduction compared to baseline and no need for further glaucoma surgeries or development of vision-threatening complications).

Background: Calcineurin, a protein involved in functions such as synaptic plasticity and neuronal survival, plays an important role in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease. This study, randomized, investigated the effects of FK506 (FK), a calcineurin inhibitor, on the behavioral, histological, and biochemical alterations observed in models of neurotoxicity induced by NMDA or Aβ and in a transgenic model for AD, in addition to the organotypic culture model stimulated with NMDA.
Methods: This study involved models for AD to experiment injecting NMDA or Aβ1-42 into the hippocampus of male C57Bl/6 mice aged 8-12 weeks to induce a neurotoxicity model, treating double-transgenic APP/PS1 mice, expressing both mouse/human APP and mutant human PS1, with chronic FK506 for AD, in which, to enable NMDA or Aβ1-42 microinjections, another experiment including a stereotaxic surgery was performed on the C57Bl/6 mice.
