Oral drug delivery remains the preferred method of drug administration but due to poor solubility many active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are ill suited to this. A number of methods to improve solubility of poorly soluble Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS) Class II drugs already exist but there is a lack of scalable, flexible methods. As such the current study applies the innovative technique of aerosol jet printing to increase the dissolution capabilities of a Class II drug in a manner which permits flexibility to allow dosage form tailoring.

This study aimed to develop bead-free nanofibers for effective omega-3 encapsulation using optimal mixing ratios of whey protein isolate (WPI)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) blends via electrospinning method. Various WPI-PVA ratios (100:0, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50 v/v) were examined for surface tension, viscosity, and conductivity. SEM images revealed uneven nanofibers with bead at 90:10 and 80:20 ratios, while the 70:30 ratio produced uniform and bead-free nanofibers with an average diameter of 262.

Division of Bioinspired Materials and Biosensor Technologies, Institute of Materials Science, Faculty of Engineering, Kiel University, 24143 Kiel, Germany; Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS), Kiel University, 24118 Kiel, Germany. Electronic address:

Curcumin, a hydrophobic drug derived from the rhizome of Curcuma longa, exhibits significant bioactive properties, including antioxidant and antimicrobial potential. However, its poor water solubility and rapid degradation limit its practical applications. This study presents a novel design of electrospun nanofibers using curcumin/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex (HP-β-CD-IC) combined with pullulan to enhance thermal stability and controlled release.

Debranched rice starch with highly enriched B1 chains enhanced the encapsulation of aroma molecules.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Resources, Jiangnan University, 1800 Lihu Road, Wuxi 214122, China; School of Food Science and Technology, Jiangnan University, 1800 Lihu Road, Wuxi 214122, China; Analysis and Testing Center, Jiangnan University, 1800 Lihu Road, Wuxi 214122, China.

Three debranched rice starch (DBS) with varying chain lengths were isolated in the hydrolysate solution-to-ethanol ratio of 1:3, 1:1.5, and 1:0, which were named as DBS1:3, DBS1:1.5, and DBS1:0, respectively.
