The aim of the study was the investigation of age-related functional alterations of adrenoreceptors and the effect of agonist and antagonist drugs on age related adrenoreceptor activity in erythrocyte membrane. The impact of isopropanol and propanol on functional activity β- adrenergic receptors in red blood cell membrane were studied in 50 practically healthy men--volunteers. (I group--75-89 years old, II group--22-30 years old). The EPR signals S1 and S2 were registered in red blood cell membrane samples after incubation with isopropanol and propanol respectively. It was found that decreasing sensitivity (functional activity) of red blood cells membrane adrenoreceptors comes with aging (S1old

Cytokinins are plant hormones that regulate cell growth and differentiation. In particular, zeatin (ZTN) delays cellular senescence of human fibroblasts and keratinocytes and exhibits anticancer activity. Chemotherapy-induced anemia is a major side effect of anticancer therapy secondary to premature senescence of red blood cells (RBCs).

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating gastrointestinal condition mainly affecting premature infants, and gasdermin D (GSDMD) has emerged as a molecule of interest due to its pivotal role in the inflammatory process called pyroptosis in NEC pathogenesis. The aim of this study is to examine the potential of GSDMD and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) as early diagnostic biomarkers for NEC.

Methods: We examined 207 infants with clinical symptoms of NEC admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) between December 2023 and June 2024.

Karl Landsteiner discovered ABO blood group system in the early 20 century, but still, uncertainty remains in immunohematology while detection of ABO subgroups or weaker variants. The presence of weak subgroups in patient samples gives rise to the discrepancy in forward (cell) and reverse (serum) grouping. We here report a case of the B(A) phenotype in a patient who was diagnosed with chronic liver disease with acute pancreatitis, requiring packed red blood cells due to anemia.

Serial intrauterine transfusion for severe fetal anemia due to anti-M alloimmunization.

Anti-M antibody is one of the causes of severe fetal anemia and intrauterine death despite its relatively low frequency. A G3P2 26-year-old pregnant woman referred to our hospital at 29 weeks gestational age (WGA) with fetal hydrops. Her second pregnancy results in intrauterine fetal death at 35 WGA due to fetal hydrops.

Background: Examples of group B red cells that react weakly or not at all with anti-B have been described. Subgroups of B such as B, B, B, and B are rare and are less frequently reported. We studied the frequency of subgroups of B in our healthy blood donor population and serologically characterized and differentiated these subgroups.
