Published: August 2011

Calcium selenate subhydrate, CaSeO(4)·0.625H(2)O, was prepared by hydrothermal conversion of CaSeO(4)·2H(2)O at 463 K. From the single crystals obtained in the shape of hexagonal needles, 50-300 µm in length, the crystal structure could be solved in a trigonal unit cell with space group P3(2)21. The cell was confirmed and refined by high-resolution synchrotron powder diffraction. The subhydrate was characterized by thermal analysis and Raman spectroscopy.

Statistical-based detection of pilot contamination attack for NOMA in 5G networks.

Fifth-generation (5G) communication technologies, such as millimeter wave communication, massive multiple-input-multiple-output and non-orthogonal-multiple-access (NOMA) are playing a pivotal role in promoting the modern applications of the Internet-of-Things. Using non-orthogonal resource allocation, NOMA can increase spectrum efficiency and achieve wide connectivity with low transmission delay and signaling cost. Despite the high potential of NOMA in 5G communications, NOMA is susceptible to a pilot contamination attack (PCA), in which an attacker resents the same pilot signals as authorized users.

Purposes: The presence of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) is equivocal for patients with prostate imaging reporting and data system (PI-RADS) category 3. We aim to develop deep learning models for re-stratify risks in PI-RADS category 3 patients.

Methods: This retrospective study included a bi-parametric MRI of 1567 consecutive male patients from six centers (Centers 1-6) between Jan 2015 and Dec 2020.

Attention mechanisms such as the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) can help emphasize and refine the most relevant feature maps such as color, texture, spots, and wrinkle variations for the avocado ripeness classification. However, the CBAM lacks global context awareness, which may prevent it from capturing long-range dependencies or global patterns such as relationships between distant regions in the image. Further, more complex neural networks can improve model performance but at the cost of increasing the number of layers and train parameters, which may not be suitable for resource constrained devices.

The fabrications of circularly polarized luminescent (CPL) material are mainly based on the chemical and physical strategies. Controlled biosynthesis of CPL-active materials is beset with difficulties due to the lack of bioactive luminescent precursors and bio-reactors. Enlighted by microbe-assisted asymmetric biosynthesis, herein, we show the in situ bacterial fermentation of Komagataeibacter sucrofermentants to fabricate a series of bacterial cellulosic biofilms with CPL of green, orange, red, and near-infrared colors.

Ferroptosis is a form of iron-dependent programmed cell death, which is distinct from apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy. Mitochondria play a critical role in initiating and amplifying ferroptosis in cancer cells. Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel 1 (VDAC1) embedded in the mitochondrial outer membrane, exerts roles in regulation of ferroptosis.
