Biopolymers are essential for cellular organization. They bridge the cell interior, forming a framework that is used as a reference for different cellular organelles. This framework, called the cytoskeleton, is not static but constantly reorganizes. The dynamics of the cytoskeleton allows the cell to rearrange its interior for various processes, such as cell division. This dynamic reorganization relies at least partly on forces that arise from the assembly and disassembly of cytoskeletal biopolymers. In many cases, these forces are generated when biopolymers interact with the cell boundary. This chapter focuses on force generation by and regulation of microtubules (MTs) that interact with growth-opposing barriers. We describe three in vitro assays that can be used to mimic MT interactions with the cell boundary. The essential components in each of our minimal systems are (functionalized) microfabricated barriers against which we grow MTs under different conditions. We describe in detail the different methods and assays necessary to realize these in vitro experiments.

In this study, we developed new chiral hybrid perovskites, (R/S-MBA)(GA)PbI4, by incorporating achiral guanidinium (GA+) and chiral R/S-methylbenzylammonium (R/S-MBA+) into the perovskite framework. The resulting materials possess a distinctive structural configuration, positioned between 1D and 2D perovskites, which we describe as 1.5D.

Pralsetinib demonstrated impressive improvement of survival in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harbored de novo RET fusion. However, the efficacy in patients with acquired RET fusion after resistance to EGFR/ALK-TKIs has only been reported on a case-by-case basis, and the strategy for overcoming the acquired RET fusion has not been fully investigated. This multicenter, real-world analysis enrolled 32 patients with unresectable NSCLC harbored acquired RET fusion after resistance to EGFR/ALK-TKIs in 23 centers across China from July 1, 2018 to Nov 23, 2022.

Stretch activation (SA), a delayed increase in force production following rapid muscle lengthening, is critical to the function of vertebrate cardiac muscle and insect asynchronous indirect flight muscle (IFM). SA enables or increases power generation in muscle types used in a cyclical manner. Recently, myosin isoform expression has been implicated as a mechanism for varying the amplitude of SA in some muscle types.

Background: This study aims to compare design, phase transformation behavior, and torsional resistance of the ProGlider (PG) and ProTaper ultimate slider (PUS) and to compare the performance of two files in the glide-path preparation of a double-curved artificial canal.
Methods: Scanning electron microscopy, micro-computed tomography, and differential scanning calorimetry were used to characterize the samples. A torsional resistance test was performed to obtain ultimate strength and distortion angle.
