Background: The fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) has been used to identify anatomical structures intraoperatively in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using ICG to assess graft patency and territorial distribution of myocardial reperfusion during CABG.

Methods: Porcine arrested hearts (n = 18) were used to evaluate territorial distribution of native coronary arteries and of a coronary bypass constructed with porcine saphenous vein graft (SVG) using ICG.

Torsion and ruptured ovarian cystadenocarcinoma with internal bleeding complicated with retroperitoneal hematoma after tumor transection: A case report.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery Center, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, Hualien, Taiwan.

Rationale: Ovarian tumor torsion is a critical gynecological emergency, predominantly affecting women of reproductive age, with benign teratomas being the most common culprits. In contrast, malignant ovarian tumors, such as mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, infrequently present with torsion due to their invasive and angiogenic characteristics. The occurrence of torsion in malignant tumors complicates diagnosis and management, particularly when associated with complications like congestion, infarction, and internal bleeding.

Current Trends and Perspectives of Pressure Wire-Based Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.

Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has been well validated as a modality for evaluating myocardial ischemia, demonstrating the superiority of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) over conventional angiography-guided PCI. As a result, the strategy for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is shifting toward FFR guidance. However, the advantage of FFR-guided CABG over angiography-guided CABG remains unclear.

Introduction and importance: Extrapelvic endometriosis, confined exclusively to the body of the rectus abdominis muscle, is a rare form of abdominal wall endometriosis. While its etiopathology remains unclear, it is often diagnosed in healthy women who present with atypical symptoms and localization unrelated to any incision site, or in the absence of a history of endometriosis or previous surgery. Presentation of the case: Here, we describe a unique case of intramuscular endometriosis of the rectus abdominis muscle in a healthy 39-year-old Caucasian woman.

Integrins are a large family of heterodimeric receptors important for cell adhesion and signaling. Integrin α5β1, also known as the fibronectin receptor, is a key mediator of angiogenesis and its dysregulation is associated with tumor proliferation, progression, and metastasis. Despite numerous efforts, α5β1-targeting therapeutics have been unsuccessful in large part due to efficacy and off-target effects.
