Transport in an ideal two-dimensional quantum spin Hall device is dominated by the counterpropagating edge states of electrons with opposite spins, giving the universal value of the conductance, 2e(2)/h. We study the effect on the conductance of a magnetic impurity, which can backscatter an electron from one edge state to the other. In the case of isotropic Kondo exchange we find that the correction to the electrical conductance caused by such an impurity vanishes in the dc limit, while the thermal conductance does acquire a finite correction due to the spin-flip backscattering.

In this work, we investigate the electronic and magnetic properties of the InSe monolayer enriched by doping with IVA-group (Si and Ge) and VA-group (P and As) atoms. Both In and Se sublattices are considered as doping sites to realize n- and p-type doping (X@InSe and X@InSe systems, X = Si, Ge, P, and As), respectively. The pristine InSe monolayer is an indirect gap semiconductor with a band gap of 1.

: Reference materials are essential for ensuring the accuracy and traceability of measurements in the quality control of medicinal products. This study explores new principles for the preparation of impure materials of active pharmaceutical substances, focusing on 1-(3-benzoylphenyl)ethanone ketoprofen impurity A () as the reference material. : The reference material was synthesised from commercially available acetanilide and benzoyl chloride.

Numerous studies have investigated the surface treatment of implants using various types of plasma, including atmospheric pressure plasma and vacuum plasma, to remove impurities and increase surface energy, thereby enhancing osseointegration. Most previous studies have focused on generating plasma directly on the implant surface by using the implant as an electrode for plasma discharge. However, plasmas generated under atmospheric and moderate vacuum conditions often have a limited plasma volume, meaning the shape of the electrodes significantly influences the local electric field characteristics, which in turn affects plasma behavior.

In this work, Ge vacancies and doping with transition metals (Mn and Fe) are proposed to modulate the electronic and magnetic properties of GeP monolayers. A pristine GeP monolayer is a non-magnetic two-dimensional (2D) material, exhibiting indirect gap semiconductor behavior with an energy gap of 1.34(2.

Using the effective mass approximation and the finite difference method, we examined the linear, non-linear, and total optical absorption coefficients (OAC), as well as the relative refractive index coefficients (RIC) variations for an off-center shallow donor impurity in a 2D-curved electronic nanostructure subjected to external electric and magnetic fields. Our results reveal that the peak positions of the OAC and RIC are susceptible to the geometrical angles, the impurity position, and the strength of the applied electric and magnetic fields. In particular, the positions of the OAC and RIC peaks can be shifted towards blue or red by adjusting the geometric angle.
