Isolated injuries were observed in 22 (16 men and 6 women) of 71 patients with a trauma of the pancreas. The correct diagnosis prior to operation was made in 3 patients. Laparotomy has revealed a complete transverse rupture of the pancreas in 4 patients. Three patients were subjected to distal resection of the pancreas, one patient--to economical resection with pancreatojejunostomy. The isolated injury of the pancreas was complicated by trauma pancreatitis in 18 patients by the moment of operation. The authors recommend to use rational drainage of the bursa omentalis with a two-lumen drain, abdominization of the organ, hypothermal perfusion, X-ray therapy. One of the 22 patients died.
