We describe the preparation of the first crystalline compounds based on arylboronate ligands PhB(OH)(3)(-) coordinated to metal cations: [Ca(PhB(OH)(3))(2)], [Sr(PhB(OH)(3))(2)]·H(2)O, and [Ba(PhB(OH)(3))(2)]. The calcium and strontium structures were solved using powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, respectively. In both cases, the structures are composed of chains of cations connected through phenylboronate ligands, which interact one with each other to form a 2D lamellar structure. The temperature and pH conditions necessary for the formation of phase-pure compounds were investigated: changes in temperature were found to mainly affect the morphology of the crystallites, whereas strong variations in pH were found to affect the formation of pure phases. All three compounds were characterized using a wide range of analytical techniques (TGA, IR, Raman, XRD, and high resolution (1)H, (11)B, and (13)C solid-state NMR), and the different coordination modes of phenylboronate ligands were analyzed. Two different kinds of hydroxyl groups were identified in the structures: those involved in hydrogen bonds, and those that are effectively "free" and not involved in hydrogen bonds of any significant strength. To position precisely the OH protons within the structures, an NMR-crystallography approach was used: the comparison of experimental and calculated NMR parameters (determined using the Gauge Including Projector Augmented Wave method, GIPAW) allowed the most accurate positions to be identified. In the case of the calcium compound, it was found that it is the (43)Ca NMR data that are critical to help identify the best model of the structure.

Multipalladium clusters possess peculiar structures and synergistic effects for reactivity and selectivity. Herein, -symmetric tripalladium clusters (, 0.5 mol %) afford C-regioselective SMCC of 2,4-dibromopyridine with phenylboronic acids or pinacol esters (C:C up to 98:1), in contrast to Pd(OAc) in ligand-free conditions.

In this study, phosphoramide compounds were successfully synthesized a series of reaction transformations from P(O)H compounds. The process began with the formation of P-Se-Ar bonds, facilitated by the synergistic effect of phenylboronic acid, selenium, and appropriate ligands in the presence of copper. Following this, nucleophilic substitution reactions with amine compounds were conducted to create P-N bonds.

Despite the recognized potential of inhaled nanomedicines to enhance and sustain local drug concentrations for lung cancer treatment, the influence of macrophage uptake on targeted nanoparticle delivery to and within tumors remains unclear. Here, we developed three ligand-coated nanoparticles for pulmonary delivery in lung cancer therapy: phenylboronic acid-modified nanoparticles (PBA-NPs), PBA combined with folic acid (FA-PBA-NPs), and PBA with mannose (MAN-PBA-NPs). In vitro, MAN-PBA-NPs were preferentially internalized by macrophages, whereas FA-PBA-NPs exhibited superior uptake by cancer cells compared to macrophages.

Hybrid lead halides show significant potential in photocatalysis due to their excellent photophysical properties, but the atomically precise modification of their organic component to achieve synergistic interactions with the lead halide units remains a great challenge. Herein, for the first time, we have employed the crystal engineering strategy to construct a class of single-atom-substituted hybrid lead halides with electron donor-acceptor (D-A) effect. The lead halide frameworks consist of 1D linear [PbCl] chains as inorganic building units and benzoxadiazole/benzothiadiazole/ benzoselenadiazole-funtionalized dicarboxylates as linkers.

A ligand-free approach for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction using Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NaDES) towards coumarin analogs is described. A model reaction between the synthetically prepared 3-(4-acetyloxy-phenyl)-6-bromo-4-methyl-coumarin () and phenylboronic acid was performed in five different NaDES as well as in pure glycerol, using two inorganic bases and palladium catalysts. The reaction proceeded smoothly in Choline Chloride/Glycerol (ChCl/Gly) and Betaine/Glycerol (Bet/Gly) NaDES at 90 °C in 24 h, affording the desired product in high yields up to 95%.
