We present the development and the electrical characterization of a polymeric nanochannel device. Standard microfabrication coupled to Focused Ion Beam (FIB) nanofabrication is used to fabricate a silicon master, which can be then replicated in a polymeric material by soft lithography. Such an elastomeric nanochannel device is used to study DNA translocation events during electrophoresis experiments. Our results demonstrate that an easy and low cost fabrication technique allows creation of a low noise device for single molecule analysis.

Commercialization of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries is largely limited by polysulfide shuttling and sluggish kinetics. Herein, 2D nanochannel interlayer composed of alternatively-stacked porous silica nanosheets (PSN) and TiCT-MXene are developed. The 2D nanochannels with selective cation transport characteristics facilitate lithium ion rapid transport, while reject the translocation of polysulfide anions across the separator.

While the highest-performing memristors currently available offer superior storage density and energy efficiency, their large-scale integration is hindered by the random distribution of filaments and nonuniform resistive switching in memory cells. Here, we demonstrate the self-organized synthesis of a type of two-dimensional protonic coordination polymers with high crystallinity and porosity. Hydrogen-bond networks containing proton carriers along its nanochannels enable uniform resistive switching down to the subnanoscale range.

A biosensor based on solid-state nanochannels of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane for both electrochemical and naked-eye detection of microRNA-31 (MiR-31) is proposed. For this purpose, MoS nanosheets, which possess different adsorption capabilities to single-stranded and double-stranded nucleic acids, are deposited onto the top surface of the AAO membrane. Moreover, multi-functional DNA nanostructure have been designed by linking a G-rich sequence for folding to a G-quadruplex at three vertices and a complementary sequence of MiR-31 at the other one vertex of a DNA tetrahedron.

Biological ion channels exhibit strong gating effects due to their zero-current closed states. However, the gating capabilities of artificial nanochannels have typically fallen short of biological channels, primarily owing to the larger nanopores that fail to completely block ion transport in the off-states. Here, we demonstrate solid-state hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks-based membranes to achieve high-performance ambient humidity-controlled proton gating, accomplished by switching the proton transport pathway instead of relying on conventional ion blockage/activation effects.

Polymers and dendrimers are macromolecules, possessing unique and intriguing characteristics, that are widely applied in self-assembled functional materials, green catalysis, drug delivery and sensing devices. Traditional approaches for the structural characterization of polymers and dendrimers involve DLS, GPC, NMR, IR and TG, which provide their physiochemical features and ensemble information, whereas their unimolecular conformation and dispersion also are key features allowing to understand their transporting profile in confined ionic nanochannels. This work demonstrates the nanopore approach for the determination of charged homopolymers, neutral block copolymer and dendrimers under distinct bias potentials and pH conditions.
