In this study, guest gas enclathration behavior in semiclathrates of tetra-n-butylammonium bromide (TBAB) was closely investigated through phase equilibrium measurement and spectroscopic analysis. The three-phase equilibria of semiclathrate (H), liquid water (L(W)), and vapor (V) for the ternary CH(4) + TBAB + water and CO(2) + TBAB + water mixtures with various TBAB concentrations were experimentally measured to determine the stability conditions of the double TBAB semiclathrates. Equilibrium dissociation temperatures for pure TBAB semiclathrate were also measured at the same concentrations under atmospheric conditions. The dissociation temperature and dissociation enthalpy of pure TBAB semiclathrate were confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry. The experimental results showed that the double CH(4) (or CO(2)) + TBAB semiclathrates yielded greatly enhanced thermal stability when compared with pure CH(4) (or CO(2)) hydrate. The highest stabilization effect was observed at the stoichiometric concentration of pure TBAB semiclathrate, which is 3.7 mol%. From the NMR and Raman spectroscopic studies, it was found that the guest gases (CH(4) and CO(2)) were enclathrated in the double semiclathrates. In particular, from the cage-dependent (13)C NMR chemical shift, it was confirmed that CH(4) molecules were captured in the 5(12) cages of the double semiclathrates.

We investigated the influence of the structural and textural properties along with the chemical environment of pure Zn[Co(CN)] in comparison with the modified phases on the catalytic performance in the cycloaddition reaction between styrene oxide and CO. We relate these to the proposed reaction pathways and mechanisms. The natural cubic phase (ZnCoCn) was dehydrated to obtain the rhombohedral phase (ZnCoRn), while the stabilized cubic phase (ZnCoCs) was synthesized by substituting external zinc atoms with cadmium atoms.

Nanomaterials have attracted more curiosity recently because of their wide-ranging application in environmental remediation and electronic devices. The current study focuses on zinc oxide nanoparticles' (ZnO NPs) simple production, characterization, and applications in several fields, including medicinal and photocatalytic degradation of dyes. The non-aqueous-based reflux method is helpful for ZnO NP synthesis; the procedure involves refluxing zinc acetate dihydrate precursor in ethylene glycol for 3 hours in the absence of sodium acetate, in which the refluxing rate and the cooling rate are optimized to get the desired phase, and the unique morphology of polyol-mediated ZnO NPs; it has been achieved using the capping agent TBAB (tetra-butyl ammonium bromide) and precursor zinc acetate dihydrate.

The number and diversity of chemical contaminants in aquatic environments require versatile technologies for their removal. Here we fabricated various electrospun nanofiber mats (ENMs) and tested their ability to sorb six neonicotinoid insecticides, a model family of small, polar contaminants. ENM formulations were polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or carbon nanofibers (CNF; carbonized from PAN), with additives including carbon nanotubes (CNTs; with and without surface carboxyl groups), the cationic surfactant tetrabutyl ammonium bromide (TBAB), and/or phthalic acid (PTA; a CNF porogen).

The interfacial behavior of tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) aqueous solutions in the absence of gas and the presence of methane and carbon dioxide gases is studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The aqueous TBAB phase, at concentrations similar to the solid semiclathrate hydrate (1:38 mol ratio), has a smaller interfacial tension and an increase in the gas molecules adsorbed at the interface compared to that in pure water. Both these factors may contribute to facilitating the uptake of the gases into the solid phase during the process of semiclathrate hydrate formation.
