This report describes three cases of a delayed closure to prevent the occurrence of abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) in patients presenting with ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (rAAA). The delayed closure technique is useful for rAAA in order to prevent ACS.

Objective: The presence of microorganisms in a wound may lead to the development of pathologically extensive inflammation, and either delay or prevent the healing of hard-to-heal (chronic) wounds. The aim of this case series is to explore the use of topical gentamicin ointment, an aminoglycoside with activity against aerobic Gram-negative bacteria, as an option to address hard-to-heal wounds.
Method: We present a retrospective case series of patients with hard-to-heal wounds of varying pathophysiologies treated with topical gentamicin.

A 53-year-old male individual with chronic severe mitral regurgitation presented with biventricular dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension, and atrial fibrillation. Echocardiography demonstrated a posterior leaflet prolapse with malcoaptation. Mitral valve repair and Maze procedure were performed, revealing absent chordae and direct connection from the anterolateral papillary muscle to the posterior leaflet, consistent with partial mitral arcade.
