A new type of cross-linked chitosan was synthesized with Diethylene Triamine (DCCTS). The adsorption of Se (VI) on DCCTS was studied. The effect factors on adsorption and the adsorption mechanism were considered. The results indicated that the DCCTS could concentrate and separate Se (IV) at pH = 3.6; the maximum adsorption efficiency was 94%, the adsorption equilibrium time was 30 min; the maximum adsorption capacity was 42.7 mg/g; the adsorption fitted Langmuir equation. A novel method for speciation of Se (VI) and Se (IV) in environmental water samples has been developed using DCCTS as adsorbent and ICP-OES as determination means. The detection limit of this method was 12 ng/L, the relatively standard deviation was 4.5% and the recovery was 99%~104%.

Cantonese sausages are susceptible to oxidative deterioration during storage. Compared with synthetic antioxidants, dihydromyricetin (DMY) is a natural active substance with various functions such as antioxidant and antimicrobial. In this study, edible coating solutions loaded with DMY were prepared based on chitosan (CS) and pullulan (PUL) to prolong the shelf-life of Cantonese sausages.

Chitosan (CHT) is a known piezoelectric biomacromolecule; however, its usage is limited due to rapid degradation in an aqueous system. Herein, we prepared CHT film via a solvent casting method and cross-linked in an alkaline solution. Sodium hydroxide facilitated deprotonation, leading to increased intramolecular hydrogen bonding and mechanical properties.

The rampant use of commercial antibiotics not only increases drug resistance but also causes a significant threat to human health. This study assessed the wound healing efficacy of hydrogels crafted from carboxymethyl chitosan (Cmc), polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA), tannic acid (TA), and carbazole (Car), with the aim of expediting the wound healing process. Hydrogels were formulated using Cmc/γ-PGA, Cmc/γ-PGA/TA, and Cmc/γ-PGA/TA/Car, followed by a thorough evaluation of their physicochemical attributes.

In this study, the effect of freeze-thaw (F-T) processes on the mechanical and water absorption performance of citrate cross-linked chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel pads was evaluated. An excellent cross-linking of 4 % (w/w) citrate was indicated by enhanced peak strength in Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction patterns, which was applied to the subsequent F-T process. The results in the deswelling rate, water contact angle, and relaxation time of samples exhibited a tendency to decrease and then increase with increasing F-T cycles, reaching a minimum of 0.

Research on stimuli-responsive micro-nanocontainers has gained attention for targeted corrosion inhibition and controlled emulsification-demulsification in oil recovery. However, existing nanocontainers face issues like irreversible drug release and limited functionality. This study presents a multi-functional nanocontainer design with reversible drug release and emulsification-demulsification capabilities.
