Synthetic analogues of the marine-derived class of natural products phloeodictines have been prepared and exhibited potent in vitro fungicidal activities against a broad array of fungal pathogens including drug resistant strains. The 6-hydroxy-2,3,4,6-tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidinium structural moiety with a C12 to C16 aliphatic side chain at C-6 has been shown to be the antifungal pharmacophore and may serve as a new antifungal template for further lead optimization.

Using Pickering emulsion (PE) as the carrier of active compounds in bio-based coatings constitutes a highly promising research domain. This study focused on creating a food-grade, biocompatible, and antibacterial PE to coat fresh fruits and vegetables, extending their shelf life. Hollow zein/soluble soybean polysaccharide nanoparticles loaded with thymol (H-ZSH/T) were produced using NaHCO as a sacrificial template to stabilize PE.

, a genus of soil and vegetation-based fungi, is a rare cause of infections in immunocompromised individuals, including transplant recipients. In this case, we describe successful treatment of mediastinitis in the recipient of an orthotopic heart transplant. Treatment included multiple courses of combination antibiotic and antifungal therapy several surgical debridements, continuous mediastinal irrigation with antifungal agents, and staged closure with an omental flap.

Microrobots are poised to transform biomedicine by enabling precise, noninvasive procedures. However, current magnetic microrobots, composed of solid monolithic particles, present fundamental challenges in engineering intersubunit interactions, limiting their collective effectiveness in navigating irregular biological terrains and confined spaces. To address this, we design hierarchically assembled microrobots with multiaxis mobility and collective adaptability by engineering the potential magnetic interaction energy between subunits to create stable, self-reconfigurable structures capable of carrying and protecting cargo internally.

There has been a long search for a simple preparation of new cyclic analogues of ionophore antibiotics. We report a simple and general synthesis of three new cyclic derivatives of polyether ionophore, monensin A (MON). The application of the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azides and terminal alkynes to macrocyclization results in a concise, synthetic route to monensin lacton or lactam in only 4 steps.

The venoms of Theraphosidae spiders have evolved into diverse natural pharmacopeias through selective pressures. is a global health threat that frequently causes life-threatening meningitis and fungemia, particularly in immunocompromised patients. In this study, we identify a novel anti- peptide, QS18 (QCFKVCFRKRCFTKCSRS), from the venom gland of China's native spider species by utilizing bioinformatic tools.
